Isn’t this body shaming?

Apparently in the uk they’ve banned advertisements that included ‘unrealistic’ body expectations, so basically skinny/pretty girls. Now I get people photoshopping and filtering their Instagram photos to extreme, unhealthy proportions as being unrealistic. But banning classically model looking girls is just dumb.

Some people look that way. You may not like it, but they do and just because you don’t want to see it, doesn’t mean these people shouldn’t be models. That’s extremely unfair.

I’m pretty skinny and I get insecure about it. I’m 5’8 and 55kgs. Curvy girls are actually a lot more praised now and seeing skinny models actually makes me feel better about myself.

I don’t agree with everything in the modeling industry and of course bigger girls should get a chance. But what’s also got to be understood is that these girls are this way for a reason - to sell clothes. They want to keep the models measurements the same so there’s no fuss about sizing and it can all run smoothly. They want a blank canvas and for the clothes to fit in a certain way. They want a pretty face. It’s not personal, they just want to sell their label.

Isn’t it body shaming to be against skinny bodies?
