Parents, what age would you let your daughter wear mini skirts with knee high boots in public?

Question

My husband and I have a 13 year old daughter. She likes wearing mini skirts with knee high boots in public both with me/us (this is a very common look for me), and to school or out with her friends. A lot of people have been questioning this. She dresses that way cause she likes how she looks and she’s confident.

Not that hubby and I are gonna tell her she can’t wear little skirts with knee high boots cause that ain’t happening, but I’m just curious if you have/had a daughter is she allowed to dress like mine or what age would you allow it and why?

Their perspective is simply wanting to act the part of the adult. It’s fun. Innocent.

The perspective of a large number of random adult men around her is she is young and an apparently easy target. They’ll make excuses as to why they will approach your daughter in a strongly sexual way.

Our job as parents is to protect and guide our children so they turn into strong and healthy adults.

No daughter of mine is going to “act” this part. They can dress however they want when they turn 18.

I don’t know if I would buy her knee high boots, but I started wearing miniskirts when I was about 12-13, so I’d let her wear miniskirts. Boots are a little too expensive to buy her when she’ll only outgrow them quickly.

50+ years ago, that was a common look among teens. Just watch The Brady Bunch or The Partridge Family. So, don't get bent out of shape about this.

And, more importantly, who gives a shit about what other people say. She is YOUR kid, not theirs. When they can proudly claim that they've raised Jesus-perfect kids, then they can comment on how you raise your kids. Until then, they should concentrate on their own.

Would I allow it? I think so.

A little young for that style. Maybe 18+ sure but 13 is too young. Because to dress correctly you need boost going all the way pass the knee. Not good to walk around in. People tend to wear long socks or stockings with that. It makes your legs look really long. Good for shorter girls.

If your daughter is really young then try knee length skorts (shorts looking like skirts) and knee length socks instead of mini skirt. Or make her wear a pair of shorts underneath.

I would not allow it because I dressed myself inappropriately as a young teen. You might think you are being the cool parent and it’s true nothing should happen to a girl whatever she wears. However there are a lot of perverts out there who see this as a tease and I wouldn’t want to allow her to put herself at risks she doesn’t understand I think I would have had a happier life if my mom made me look more my age. Grown men would touch and talk sexually to me I would always tell them my age and they never cared.

And why would I want my daughter looking like a whore as a child when there are how many pedophiles in this world and plus teaching my child to degrade herself and have boys wanting her at such a young age is pathetic...

Never. I think parents ought to be mindful of the wickedness that prevails in society. There are people who look at children as prey, and they get excited when they get a chance to see children dressed in the craziness parents allow thier children to dress in. And in this type of society where they are getting bolder, I'm not giving anyone the idea to kidnap or harm my child

As soon as she wants. Clothes are not a hill to die on. There will be places where certain outfits aren't appropriate (church, a funeral, etc ) but I'll teach that rather than impose my views on her clothes.

You can't really stop it, soon as you say you can't wear that, she'll dress as something you do allow and then when out of sight will change into them anyways.

That's always what I did with stuff my parents said I couldn't wear... then I'd change back before going home again.

Best you can do is have a talk about it, but let her do whatever anyways.

Knee high boots are fine, skirts need to be at least mid thigh length, no shirts with cleavage or stomach showing, no unnatural hair colors or dyed hair, no smart phone. Those are my rules until they are 18. Also, no going to friends' houses that violate those rules and would be a bad influence on her.

All depends on how old she looks. You don't wany her getting male attention.

When I was 13 I was getting very large breasts, was tall, had long legs and a fat ass, I was super skinny but there was certain outfits I couldn't wear without looking slutty that most teens my age could wear. My sister could wear a mini skirt with knee high boots whereas I looked like a 20 year old hooker.

I don't have a daughter but I think 13 is till a little young for mini skirt or dress that way. I say maybe around 15 and 16 would be appropriate age as long it a little above the knee and so her panties aren't showing. Maybe just let her wear the boots is okay.
