Would you buy a short or a long coat for winter?

Especially if you were of shorter? I'm 5'2" or 158cm tall but I don't mind wearing longer coats...

This "coat" is actually called a padded belted (long) blazer in black.

I think it's pretty neat and nice for a winter wardrobe's piece (most winter coats/jackets look so baggy or sausage-like).

I think that's a GREAT choice. You can be casual with it (it'll even go over a top and leggings) or you could just as easily wear it over a fancy dress to a party.

Tip that's worked well for me and my wife: if it doesn't fit just right but it's close: take it to your dry cleaners; most will do alterations. They can nip it and tuck it and shape it a little and it usually won't cost an arm and a leg.

One last thing I wanted to ask, would sneakers work with this coat too? Sometimes they're better than boots.

Yes but the pants have to work. The picture you gave us they're TERRIBLE. :) But, yes, sneakers or even pure athletic shoes (running shoes) work.

Well the models are wearing terrible shoe options (imho) and their jeans are too loose. I prefer slim jeans but not skinny either.

Long coats cover more of your body than short coats, so they can definitely be warmer for winter! But whatever length you pick -- short, three-quarters or long -- the trick is to find a coat that fits you in proportions. In other words, one where the shoulders, the sleeve length, the waist, and the length all hit you at the right spot. Even an ankle-length coat can work well as long as the proportions are correct.

in my opinion petite women can def pull off long coats! One good consideration is where the hem hits you. I feel like coats that hit at the knee (or slightly above) and those that hit near the ankle are most flattering. Also having it tailored to fit your shoulders and torso nicely can help it complement your frame.

If I lived in a cold climate again, I would prefer a knee length coat. Here in CA where we are having cold winter weather with rain, I have a wonderful longer-than-waist-length leather coat give to me by a lady friend. It is great for here. Long for me in the cold

The short version is actually a medium length. Short length is at waist height. I always buy medium length coats
