I grew up in an area back east where I spent a lot of time in my Tailor shop, looking and being fitted for suits, ties, shirts etc, and learned the meaning of being "overstated" and 'understated"

From the clothes my wife buys for me. She has great taste and is the queen of resale. She found a Jean Paul Gaultier Sweater, a Vince cashmere sweater, and other fine clothes.

My environment I'm a agricultural laborer and I live in Kansas so lots of wilderness and farms.
So my sense of style comes from the wilderness, farmers and just the rugged outdoors. So my sense of style is very laid back, casual and practical I usually look like a farmer, lumberjack or wilderness guy I have a very vintage classic look or a older rugged/outdoors look to myself a lot of the time.
Usually I wear solid coloured t-shirts, flannel and plaid button down shirts and jackets, moleskin, lot of heavy wool and cotton jackets, vests both wool and leather, leather bush hats, straw and felt cowboy hats. I do also have nicer stuff as well like a few high end leather jackets both for practicality like my oilskin leather jacket and for just looking good as well, work boots, cowboy boots.
Stuff like that.
I have often lot to time while work hours. When I don't play with phone I read magazines my boss orders for waiting patients. Sometimes I find what I want. Generally I could war an oversized yuta bag and I would look good in it, because body determinates shape to clothes not another way around.
It comes from within myself. I see what i like and i see what i don't like or Even dislike.
Me likes urban style and hoodies.
Me hates business suits and ripped pants.
Peaky Blinders, Boardwalk Empire, Victorian Era, 1920s gentlemen, and the vintage/history bounding community.
To be honest, I just vision some stuff that would look good on me and try out that pattern, style of clothes, colour combinations or anything. Basically I do not follow fashion trends 😅

I wish I could afford to have a sense of style. I just buy the cheapest things I can find.

I think I get it mostly from the movies. I like vintage style and I have a penchant for leather jackets since Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
It comes from 'taste', 'education' and 'individuality'.
