As a woman I feel like the dull brown peacock so I could maybe see how men are suppose to be the pretty colorful peacock 🦚 Men, do y'all feel like the pretty peacock or no?

not necessarily more "beautiful" but definitely more dominant or at least has the perception of dominance

sure the more "beautiful" man can be perceived as more dominant than the less "beautiful" man e. g. Channing Tatum vs Jonah Hill however there are times where the more "beautiful" man isn't actually more dominant e. g. Dwayne Johnson looks like he could snap "beautiful" Harry Styles like a toothpick

most animal species tend to have more females than males thus what is rare often has to stand out more due to the biological differences. in humans, since there are roughly equal numbers of men and women, the majority of men aren't deemed attractive and only a select few men are deemed attractive just like every other animal species

in humans though, females do have some beauty advantages. Softer, smoother skin, way less likely to go bald, sex organs neatly contained within the body which makes the whole form look smoother, curves which draw the eyes, even the way a woman walks is more elegant because of wider hips.

but y'all need to lay off the coffee and get proper sleep and hydration, then makeup wouldn’t be as necessary

I don't know if it's "supposed" to be that way, but men do naturally have better skin, better eyebrows/eyelashes, better hair, etc. It seems like women have to work harder to maintain their looks while a lot of men can put in minimal effort and still look good. 😭

I ponder this subject frequently.

As a man, I find that women are so beautiful and men are just, meh, except for finely chiseled examples. The statue of David, for example, and even that is an ideal, not real.

I wonder if most women see human beauty as I do, and just accept men as something other than objects of sexual lust, as providers or protectors, and just look past men's lack of beauty, or if they really are hot for guys bodies.

I'm into small amounts of makeup for myself on infrequent occasions. I'm not sure why, but as long as I don't overdo it and start looking garish, I feel really good about myself when made up a little bit. Go figure.

I'd love to know how women feel about men's bodies.

Tell that to a black widow. But this is just so wrong, many male animals have to compete against against other males in a certain way rather than the female animal just going ah your the most pretty so I pick you because... welp animals don't even think like that.
For example they may breed with the other one because it fought the rest and won. Which has nothing to do with the male been beautiful, animals are processed mostly to mate with the more superior gene or just whatever they can find. They do not pick based on beauty.

The attractive your thinking of is a subjective thing created by humans, not something other animals show they have processing for.

Hmmm. In humans, I think women are more beautiful, particularly because they do so many things to make themselves look beautiful and attractive. But men are taller, more muscled, more imposing and magnificent.

Speaking as a heterosexual man, I definitely think women are superior when it comes to "beauty". But I'm glad that heterosexual women find men attractive.

We're primates, our "flashiness" is a show of dominance.(aside from mandrills and what not), which ape/monkey shows the most strength, which bonobo screws the most competitors. Our societies regardless of culture are all structured around respecting who has more.

The examples of mammals do not add up anyway. The antlers are not pretty and neither is the lion's mane. It's rather comparable to a man's beard. Distinctive, but not beautiful.

For most mammals there's no difference. Squirrels of both genders are cute for example.

There's attractive and unattractive males and females when it comes to humans alike. I think for the most part females are the more beautiful of the sexes. They are more sexualized and have more beautiful features (to us). Men are hairy, often go bald and strangely shaped a lot of the time. Even when males are attractive, they have a lot of feminine features. Not to the point of being androgenous, but more on the feminine side nontheless..

In animal species, it’s usually the women that do most of the work so the male is more attractive than the woman to make it more worthwhile for the women to bond with a man. In human beings, woman do less money growing work so they are more attractive to compensate for their lower income averages then men. Males are uglier to compensate for their higher income averages then men.

In the human species clearly it is the female who pays more attention to her appearance, dresses in a more advertising fashion (in both color, flashiness and exposure and accentuation of her body parts), and adorns herself with more flashy accessories to attract male attention. I see your point with the cosmetics and other artificial enhancements, not sure how that got flipped. But naturally, males have beards, similar to a lion's mane. So we flipped it around for whatever reason.

Some species are pair bonding and others are not. In the later girls just go after good genes. A peacocks tail is a handicap that advertises his good genes. In pair bonding species male beauty is not so important.
