I'd say it also depends on where you're wearing it. Assuming you have the body for it, what's looks fine on a job at the park or a trip to the corner store can look wildly inappropriate in a board room or a PTA meeting. Was the overall context of your conversation implying you were thinking of wearing it to a particular event? I wouldn't recommend wearing that at someone else's wedding. If you met me for coffee wearing that I wouldn't think anything of it. If you showed up to help me... I don't know... carry and stack firewood, then I'd think you were improperly dressed. Same attire, very different outcomes.
