Same also goes for men; however, the pressure on women to have perfect bodies is definitely much more pronounced on media, so I prefered to show the image of two women who were fashion icons of their decades. Personally, Kim's body did not even look achieveable without any operations since someone with a booty that big simply cannot have legs that thin or waistline that tiny. It is impossible to have a body like that naturally. I was born in 2001, so I vividly remember the y2k beauty standards. As long as you were thin or something in the middle, your body was considered pretty. Now... it is a whole different story.😶😶😶
Well you asked the right question here! My massage therapist and I discussed this topic. As an example of what you just asked... Take a look at Advertisements on TV for the various kind of medications being promoted for everything from AIDS to Diabetes, to Shingles. I notice MANY if NOT ALL of the persons shown to be either very overweight to morbidly obese. I have seen participants that I know are near 300 pounds being used to promote meds for diabetes or for reducing cholesterol.
My Orthopedic surgeon treating me for Rotator Cuff syndrome, told me that many of his patients suffering back, knee, and hip problems are at least 100 pounds over weight.
Lets face it, overweight and obesity is becoming "normalized' everywhere we look. Look for yourself, it is everywhere on Commercial Advertising on every channel. My BMI is 21.1... and I am called "skinny" by many overweight persons.

my idea of a GREAT body... (not an ideal one) were different
more like Laetitia Casta rather than Giselle
and more like Jessica Biel... rather than the Kardashians
I wouldn't say beauty standards before, in the 90's or any other era (if you look at the history and evolution of beauty standards) were more attainable for the majority of women either. You can't be Gisele and change your height, or bone structure, unless you're born this way. The only way to change your body shape and spot reduce fat, is getting liposuction surgery, but again this won't give you the body proportions of a supermodel.
It's because on social media we see all of these women online, who have different bodies and show them off. Things such as TikTok, Instagram, OnlyFans, etc. are places where you can see an example of this. But bimbofication is definitely still something going on. Then you have the fat influencers on youtube (I think that's where some were from). But yeah, we're exposed to any kind of body shapes, types, and modifications.

Oh, you've touched on such a fascinating and complex topic! The evolution of ideal body images really showcases how societal preferences shift over time, influenced heavily by media and celebrity culture. In the early 2000s, the emphasis was indeed on a slimmer figure, somewhat mirroring the fashion icons of the time, like Gisele Bündchen. Fast forward to today, and the spotlight has moved towards more voluptuous figures, with Kim Kardashian being a prime example.
This transformation isn't just about changing tastes but also reflects deeper issues related to how media shapes our self-perception and self-esteem. The rise of social media has amplified this, with filters and photo editing making those 'ideal' bodies seem more attainable than they really are. It's essential to remember that these images we see are often heavily curated and may involve surgical enhancements, setting unrealistic standards for beauty.
What's really important is fostering an environment that celebrates all body types and focuses on health and happiness rather than fitting into a specific mold. It's all about finding beauty in diversity and remembering that real beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. 😊💖

Social media. Like I heard a pink account on here say, "I prefer avg. Looking guys like Chris Hemsworth".😆 I mean all you can do is laugh at that.
This might have bothered me when I was young. But I know most of these women are going to wind up miserable. And that's what you have to tell yourself. Man or woman. If they spend the majority of thier life in fantasy land, one day they wake up old, wrinkled and life has past them by. Moreover nobody trusts them now because of thier past. So not only have the f***ed thier past thier present is f***ed and most likely thier future.🍸😆
A lot of money is made. Super expensive cremes, lotions, makeup, deo, fitnessgear, all the way to surgeries.
I don't find Kim Kardashian's body that attractive. I think a mix between curvy and fit but not exaggerated on either looks best, which is what I'm looking to achieve at the gym. Either way, the most important thing is to be healthy.
You have to factor in mentality here. What can happen when you have the funds to attempt to create your own imagined ideal.
U r sooooo right... n it's the media around us which keeps adding such pressure n yet makes it look normal
Because of all the BS social media and influencers try to sell.
It's not nowadays. It's always been this way in every era n culture
Most men are intimidated by the Instagram models. We just want wome to take basic care of themselves. Women feel pressured by other women cause they are constantly competing with other women.
I prefer the Gisele look to the Kim K fake butt look.
Every fit , happy body is beautiful in my understanding
Demographics. White men have better taste in women than minority men who mainly just look for big ass and tits and don't care about how they actually look.
Different standards due to different times
