Do shy guys ever hide their true feelings when they know the girl likes them?

He runs hot and cold it seems. He's shy. When we are around people he treats me different. I told him I have feelings for him, he told me cares about me, but he told his friends he has feelings for me. We've know each other for 3 years. I'm close with his family and am at every family function. I don't know. I really care about him, but he has been hurt and has trust issues. So I don't want to just give up on him, cut I know he'd be worth the wait, but I also don't want to give up other possible options, if he doesn't commit to me. Help!!!

Show him just a little more that you are worth showing off..by showing him off.
And yes we get pretty shy and sometimes hesitate to show what we mean. This is something the lady's shouldn't misunderstand.
If you know he's worth it and shows that he won't do anything to screw you over.
Put him on a pedestal, but as soon as he sees this and returns the favor, back off on putting him on display because its our job to do it to you women. But don't confuse him and and just neglect any and all attention to him. Give him the PDA us guys like. Kisses on the cheek, wrap your arm around his every once in a while. Be cute, but not all over him.
Just get him out of his shell..and if he's worth it, he will act like it.

i used to be quite shy and something similar happened when i was in high school.
there was this girl who was into me, we'd send texts to each other after school but i would act differently towards her when we were at school the next day, i honestly don't know why.
she even broke up with her boyfriend and i still didn't make a move.

i know this example involves high school and all that but if someone's shy then they are likely to do the same.

Just hang around a bit more, take things slow and make him feel comfortable :)
