Is it cheating to intimately hug another person?

Is it cheating to hug someone for ages, really close when the other person is trying to kiss you, even if you don't kiss back?

It's cheating if you have intimate relations with them intentionally. I would not classify hugs, in general, as 'intimate'. Unless you're groping them or something while you're doing it. There are a few exceptions.

Other than those though, I don't think I would put hugging on the list of things that are cheating.

BUT it all depends on motives. Does the person doing the hugging feel attracted to the person they are hugging? Are they hugging them for ages because they want to be intimate with them? If so, I would say they are borderline cheating, because you should stay away from anyone you feel attracted to purely out of respect for your partner. But THAT all depends on how lax your partner is in that kind of thing. There are a lot of factors that go into it.

It's flirting. Just as you've tagged your question it's just flirting. Maybe had you kissed him then I'd probably consider it to be cheating.

Not really unless you're getting felt up by him... I felt it was somewhat cheating but in the way of getting someone's number or flirting with someone else other than your bf/gf

Last year the same thing happened to me except no kissing. It was the end of the semester and he was leaving. I didn't know him that well but I thought I'd never see him again. So I hugged him and I don't know we just kept hugging like nonstop and he was in the elevator too so he held the door open haha. It just felt soooo good to hug though and I knew it was kinda wrong since he had a girlfriend but in the moment it felt right

I left when the elevator wouldn't say open anymore and said Goodbye... then I saw him the next semester and we talked like we knew each other.

i don't think it's really considered cheating, if you don't do anything back.. but it's still not something you'd wanna be doing if you're in a relationship. if you're unsure, put yourself in your significant others shoes. would you feel betrayed or hurt if your boyfriend or girlfriend did that with someone else? just put it into perspective.

Think of it this way, would you like it if your boyfriend did that with some other girl. How would you feel? Would you feel cheated on, if so there's your answer!

Some would argue that it is. If you feel an emotional attachment, some would consider it emotional cheating.

Depends on your bf. Is he a jealous type, then it's cheating. If he's not, then it's not. Would he be ok with it? But, I wouldn't do that next time. That guy's got a wrong idea of you now.
