Friendly teasing versus flirty teasing?

Today one of my guy friends sat down next to me and began to playfully push my shoulder trying to make me lose balance. Then he would stop and put his arm around my shoulder pulling me close enough I was leaning against him. He would then let me go joking that people were going to think things, but then he would do it again. Later that day he walked by me and instead of giving me a quick hug like he does sometimes, as he walked by he put his arm around my shoulder kinda squeezed my shoulder all in one motion as he walked by.
As I'm typing this I am seriously wondering why I am asking this question because it seems pretty clear that he was flirting. We aren't super close, so he isn't one of my guy friends I hang out with all of the time, and this is the first time something like this has happened, not counting every once and awhile that he comes and give me a hug. So guys, girls, what is up with this?

I agree he seems awkward and insecure, and dont be flattered because if you get into a relationship with this guy, that awkwardness and insecurity will lead into his communication style and he will act that way emotionally when its time to be a man, and the joking will get old. Trust me, once he has you, he will joke his way out of it too!

What is up with this is that he is very awkward and lacks confidence. He wants you but he doesn't know how to talk to you so he acts like a 12-year-old and pretends it is all a big joke. That way he doesn't risk being rejected by directly asking you for a date. He'll probably get over this eventually and behave more civilly. Maybe.
