Is HANDSOME an old fashioned word?

If he is "handsome" what does this really mean? and how would that be described today?

When a girl calls a guy handsome, she wants him to know that he is more than "hot," "cute," or "sexy." Which are all the typical words nowadays. Calling a guy is like calling a girl beautiful. It's just more appropriate at certain times. Like when you're trying to be romantic and sweet, you don't tell a guy he looks hot. You tell him that he looks handsome. That's just how I see it. I see it as a more respectable and romantic term.

I don't think it's old fashioned...Of course, I guess that depends on your age group. Handsome usually is associated more with the clean cute, perfect hair, well dressed guys...It's classy, like Cary Grant was handsome...

I don't think it is. Girls tend to say "cute" or "hot" more these days, but "handsome" sounds more manly.

i always say handsome. cute sounds chilidish (we're not teens anymore :)) and hot sounds a bit disrespectful, though I'm sure guys don't mind it
