Poking?

Here's a question that I just thought of.

Why do guys like to poke girls in their sides?

Like I just met this guy yesterday and he's like a really funny person - everybody likes him. And like I said I JUST met the guy and when our church group when on the bus for our BBQ, and we mostly bumped into each other (not literally), I just see him wherever I go. And when it was night, I saw him and he poked me at my side, and I guess we're friends now since I went for revenge.

And that happened with another guy at the same day same place. We were playing volleyball and we don't really talk but when it was time to go (at night) after the first guy poked me he then poked me. And of course I went for revenge, never got it.

Okay! I'm rambling on. sorry. I'll just list the questions.

Why do guys poke girls in their sides when they just met them for like a day?

Even though it's friendship and nothing more, still, why do guys do it?

And if it's more than just friendship, why do you guys think poking girls would help?

it's a nervous way of flirting. the guys want to make physical contact, but at the same time they want to see how you'll react. if you get annoyed quickly, than the guy backs off and reformulates their strategy, and they'll see you as a serious person.

If you poke them back, or chase after them, or pull pranks on them, than they'll see it as a sign that you are interested in them, and you are fun and flirty, and that they have a chance with you.

What these guys don't realize is that poking people (especially girls) is not a sign of romantic interest, it's a sign of relationship immaturity. These guys don't know how to talk to girls, they don't have the first clue as to how to hold a conversation, so they revert back to being 9 years old, and play tag with you.

There is no crime in being playful, no matter how old you are. I have no problem talking to girls and I'll still poke them. I think its fun and the girl thinks its fun too most of the time.

It's a way of physically joking with someone. Physical touch means a lot to a girl, and it makes her more likely to remember you. Obviously it worked!

Beyond that, it doesn't really mean anything; it's not an indicator that they want to date you, even though one or both of them might want to (but you can't know from just a poke).

I think it's because they're immature. When boys poke me they do it where my love handles and waist meet and it's so Annoying ! It's probably just some guys way of flirting.

They're just touching you. It's meant to be flirty and fun without being overly sexual.
