Guys, is a lady wearing sunglasses making her look less approachable?

I'm starting to wonder if it's true!
I read in an article about why men nowadays don't approach women and it stated amoung other reasons, that a lady wearing sunglasses looks stuck up and closed off.
And because of this most guys wouldn't go up and try to talk to her since he deems her unapproachable aka unfriendly or not open to having a conversation with a stranger.

I usually wear polarized glasses like the girl in the second pic since they protect my eyes better.
I use to wear regular sunglasses like the girl in the first pic and sure they're more stylish but they don't provide as much UV protection.

Eh. I call bullshit. If you are wearing them during the right time of year or when its sunny and you want to wear them wear them. A guy isn't worth your time if he's too much of a pussy to be overwhelmed by some shades. While they do hide your eyes, they dont hide your face. Smile or smirk a bit and it usually looks pretty hot. I had a lot of freshman chasing after me this semester because of mirrored sunglasses and a nice smirk. Look confident, be yourself and the right guy will turn up in time. Im not shy at all, and I've approached women wearing sunglasses to give them a compliment or flirt a bit. I personally just like brightening people's days. Hope this helps! 😊

Being shy means you are a bit vulnerable which is a great thing. It means you are a real person, not hiding behind a mask. I get shy around my girlfriend but that's because I am romantically attracted to her and that's embarrassing to me. I find her gorgeous even without makeup or right when she wakes up. She's a touchy person like me and I always get shy because I've never really had someone who's actually loved me before.

Well, its a very unique and special feeling. Its nice to be able to let my guard down and trust her while cuddling or when she's texting knowing that she's not cheating on me. Its also nice to feel the warmth of someone else and hear her full out die of laughter when I trip over the cat in the kitchen. I also really enjoy when she says "oh my god. This is so good! Your cooking tastes better than the restaurant."I also love the random surprise hugs, the awkard half-naked, I just got out of the shower and I'm looking for something run around the house she does. But the best part was when I bought her a nice simple necklace as an early Christmas present just a letter with a tiny chain and she broke down and cried saying she spent her whole life praying with her mom and dad for many nights to find a guy who would treat her right. I was so happy even though I was crying too. I just hugged her and let her sob for awhile.

It's not huge effect but yes it does have an effect and it's not equal so it's worth noting.

Mostly the guys who are turned away are the introverts and averages guys who might need that eye contact to confirm its ok to approach. You know that accross the bar look. You won't generally deter any extroverts or sexually aggressive men.

I legit wear sunglasses for the very reason of seeming less approachable so I don't get bothered as much when out in public. Helps a little, though it still happens. Does make it WAY easier to ignore harassment cause it's easier to look like you're "not seeing" someone. Kind of serves like a shield, so I don't feel as powerless every time some douchebag comments on my boobs.

Did I say all guys? No. Did not. What is the relevance of saying that? When I go outside I often get harassed. Not every guy needs to be a harasser for me to encounter harassers almost every time I go out or walk through the city. Don't know why you felt such a dire need to #notallmen about it when literally nobody is talking about all men.

And I'll tell you why I get harassed about my boobs rather than my hair or piercings: my hair or piercings aren't obvious traits to sexualise me for, and when guys harass women, sexuality is the easiest, most efficient thing to do it with. Yes. Eyes are the door to your soul. Body language is one of the most important ways people communicate and eye contact is essential. You can see what the other person is feeling more easily when they don't wear sunglasses, cover their face, mouth eyebrows and ears. It doesn't just make women less approachable but men as well

It's not the confidence - if you can't see someone's eyes, how would you know if they are looking at you at all or not, and what mood they are in.
It takes showing your full face to show your full expression - otherwise people assume you are hiding something, for good reasons or bad.

I don't see sunglasses themself as a problem. 90% of people if not more wear sunglasses at least a few times a year if not everyday. However the way you dress and carry yourself behind the sunglasses makes the difference. For example. A girl in sweat pants, sweat shirt and sunglasses, with a casual loom or smile (very approachable) same for a sun dress and glasses with a casual loom or smile. If you start looking like Kim Kardashian with glasses and a casual, no expression, or stuck up expression ( you're very unapproachable ) so it's how you dress and carry yourself. That's just how I see it

Maybe if you were wearing them inside all the time. Then I'd wonder if either she is trying to hide behind them and doesn't want attention, or she has eye problems. Or if she thinks that sunglasses are always stylish to wear all the time, then I'd wonder if she's a materialistic type or into herself a lot and creating a celeb image of herself.

These cases would make me less apt to approach. But if it's on the beach or sunny outside or something, then it's only logical you'd have sunglasses on, and then I'd approach if you were maybe by yourself or in a setting that you seemed like you would be open to conversation or talking to someone.

Eyes are a pretty expressive part of the face and helps communicate your emotions. This also extends to other parts of the face. The more emotion you cover up, the more difficult it is for people to connect with you on an emotional level. You might get some who are after the "mysterious girl" and those who don't care about your emotions as much as what they might want with your body but i can see why it would turn away guys who seek a connection.

On the flip side, masking your emotions means a guy who likes to play on those for an easy lay might have a little more difficulty but they are generally hard to differentiate from an assertive guy with "honorable" intent by design.

Technically yeah, it makes people seem closed off. You lose a part of human connection when you can't make direct eye contact. Examples, ski masks or sunglasses on cops. For better or worse, you don't feel the sake as you would with the other person. So if a woman is wearing sunglasses, then I guess it could be considered that. Its probably simpler though

Eye contact is essential when you're first talking with someone and wearing sunglasses is like this privacy shield that is cold and in my opinion bordering on rude. If I'm wearing sunglasses and start talking with someone except in the briefest of exchanges, I will always take my sunglasses off. I once had a first date where to my date wore her sunglasses the entire time we had coffee. It was so unfriendly it rubbed me the wrong way.

The sunlight and UV radiation here are so intense that it is difficult to see outdoors without sunglasses.

Sunglasses block the eyes from view, so you can never know if she is receptive to being approached or not. I know that I personally have had so many approaches blow up in my face before, even with women who aren't wearing sunglasses, that I don't even bother taking the risk anymore.
