My boyfriend always makes weird noises and its driving me whacko?

now I can understand if you need to clear your throat or cough, that is normal. but my boyfriend will just be sitting there and start making this really quiet "hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm" sound...over...and over...and over. not so much like he is clearing his throat but..i don't know what he is doing exactly. he does it all day...it gets even worse after we eat he will do it probably every other second or even more at times. then he coughs this weird cough, it's strange sounding. sometimes it weirds me out I will be sitting there and think he said something and I will look and him and go "what? huh?" and he will say "i didn't say anything you are imagining things". I haven't asked him why he makes weird sounds because I don't want to make it sound like it's bugging me as much as it is. what should I say to him? it gets SO annoying when we are watching TV and all I hear it "hmm,hmm,hmm" what should I say to him without sounding like a complete jerk?

Break up with him... if its bothering you, it will get worse the longer you stay with him, if you don't say anything he might not even know he's doing it...
