Why do guys rest their arms over chairs when a girl is near?

So this guy I've met once but don't talk to sat two chairs over from me at church. During the service he stretched out his arm over the two empty chairs so his had was about a foot away from me. He kept it there for a while. This guy in the row in front of me but to the side (I'm more acquainted with him) said good morning to me and during the service he also stretched his arm out on his chairs so his hand was closer to me. He also during the service looked back at me in my direction (no eye contact, he kind of looked like he was looking down toward my body) and then a few minutes later he crossed his legs like I was which was how normally women cross their legs not men. Same direction and everything.

Why do you think these guys did this stuff with their bodies? We're they attracted to me? Was it just comfortable to rest your arm on a chair? To show dominance? Marking territory? Please let me know your thoughts. Lol thanks guys.

Sign of dominance. Stretching out increases the area you take up and can enhance your display of confidence. Think of how a guy looks stretched out vs. a guy who is slumped over or who displays nervous or weak body language by crossing his arms and rounding his shoulders forward (protecting his chest and stomach). As far as them stretching in your direction, I would say there could be a good chance that they have some interest in you. If the guy who looked in your direction had looked down at your legs/body then made eye contact, then that would have been a big sign of interest. The fact that he didn't make eye contact could indicate that he is not as confidant, or he's just checking you out. I say if you already sense that they may have some interest in you, this may just be another indication of that interest. Otherwise, if they don't display any other interest, such as confidant eye contact, it could mean nothing more than them being relaxed and comfortable as the other poster mentioned.

I do it when I'm on a bus with only a couple other people riding with me. Alpha males take up as much space as possible to show who's boss. The guy sitting in front of you turned back to size up the other Alpha male, he then felt threatened and crossed his legs, like a woman, in defeat. In this Scenario the guy sitting next to you was the dominant one. Body language is such an interesting thing (there's some great documentaries on youtube).
