Got number from waitress, text for a bit or ask her out for coffee?

Hey, so I while I was out for dinner with a friend, long story short, at the end if the meal I started flirting with our attractive waitress and she seemed fairly receptive to it. When after taking care of the bill and having tipped already (nothing excessive, just 15% on a modest meal), I decided to ask her for her number just to see where it would go. She wrote it down for me on my receipt and even threw her name down in case I forgot. I figured she was probably interested or else she wouldn't have done all that after I had tipped. So I'm really bad at the whole texting/dating thing (I'm about 24 and I would guess she's in her early 20s as well too, so I should probably figure this out sooner than later haha...) but should I:

1. Send my 1st text after a day or two be direct and ask her out for coffee? So that way she knows my intentions and I'm not beating around the obvious bush, Or

2. Do I banter back and forth via texting for a bit before asking her for coffee? That way she knows me a little more than the context she had just at the restaurant and doesn't think I'm a potential creep haha?

She gave you her number and her name, so she is definitely interested. Just call her up on the phone and ask her for a date. You don't need to beat around the bush because you already know she's interested. She will appreciate your forwardness and will be more enthusiastic about hanging out with you if you're more direct! And don't feel like you have to wait three or four days before you ask her out... just do it! waiting 1 day is enough. If you wait too long, she will lose interest and remember that she sees tons of guys everyday at her job. If you flirted with her and found her attractive, chances are a lot of other guys will too. Keep the coffee date chill and light-hearted and have fun. good luck! :)

So I kinda came late to the texting (and dating haha) game so I'm pretty much got all my dating advice from late 90s to 2000s chick flicks. So what do you girls prefer if you're interested?, a text cause it's convenient and removes awkwardness if the talk doesn't go so well or a call cause it's more personal and you can read into it more?

For the first date, either is fine but if you go on a second or third date, you should probably call her :)

Don't stress the first date at all. text if that makes you feel more comfortable. But don't feel like you have to conform to any rules like the "3 Days Rule" or other game-playing tactics to win someone over!

I don't say the exact day after, I say give it a few days and tell her you've been busy.

Therefore it shows her that your not desperate and that your not a push over :)

text a little back and forth and see where it leads to. if it looks like she's in to you ask her out to coffee. It really depends on how she text back though.

Most of the waitresses give their numbers only to be nice. I know some waitress who give out their numbers in order to get a better tip. Come on if she is good looking then at least every 5th guy is hitting on her when she is serving his table.

Anyways, if you like her you should definitely give yourself a chance, believe in yourself that you can get a date with her!

False. I'm a waitress and I never give my number out or anything. However, I've had plenty of guys over the years leave their numbers on the checks for me. I have never called/texted any of them. Normally we "pretty" girls get a lot of crap from guys that are flirty. From what it sounds like, this girl is into you so take whatever advice you like of this site and get to know the girl.
