what if you catch someone looking at you?
does it mater if they're attractive?
for me, I like it if I see a cute or sexy girl looking at me like that cause that means they're someone I could go and talk to.

Trending & News I've never cared, really. I never went looking for a relationship - it found me. I've been told that makes me lucky. But oh well.
If someone was checking me out, I would be creeped out. Because I'm not attractive.
Aside from that, I get uncomfortable and hot under the collar when people are looking at me, and even if that person was checking me out or thinking 'dayum' in their head, I'd still think they were mentally calculating that they were actually freaked out by me, or simply just staring into space, day dreaming.
Their looks don't really matter, but obviously, the more handsome or attractive they are the more likely I'm going to think they are actually thinking bad things, as why would they be thinking something else, really? It wouldn't make sense to me, anyway.
I wouldn't approach someone who I didn't know even if they were beckoning me, calling out to me (not by name, obviously) or crying for help, now that you mention it. So I certainly wouldn't think of them as someone I could approach and chat casually to, lol. I have issues.
So yeah, long story short, I voted C. :)
Eh, my issues are known and unfortunately difficult to fix.
I'm better on the fringe of everything anyway, and I don't really want to change that. Still, I'm happy in my current relationship and now I have someone else, I'll probably scoff at people checking me out, if ignore them completely, as normal, lol.
Love it. When ever I catch a girl glimpsing I always take time to stare back. They are so often like a deer in headlights once they know they've been caught. After that they become all self-conscious and keep on darting their eyes back and forth. If you can spark up a conversation your almost certain to get a date at that point.
It depends, if I think I don't look that good at the moment I would probably dislike it. Cause I'm self-conscious at that time. BUT if I know that I'm dressed to kill and I look my best then I LOVE IT, makes me feel awsome. It's EVEN BETTER when it's the guy you have a crush on chekin' you out, just showin' what you got girl! The best part is that while I'm walking by I glance at him with my eyes looking all flirty and seductive and with my hair flowin', just making eye-contact for a split second and then look right away! Seeing the reaction on his face is priceless, it's good to know that he likes what he sees, makes me feel so awsome, and hottt!
You're right, It's true!
Even if he turns around just to take a quick look at me trying to look as discrete as he possible can, I feel fantastic... he looks away and I bite my lips and smile like crazy! BAM! That's when I know he made my day :)
Oh no, I hate that, and hate girls who do it. Personally I don't like taking photos of myself, I think they never turn out good! I'm not saying that I'm ugly, but if want to show how sexy I am to a guy, they'll just have to meet me in person. The thing about sexiness is that it's in the way you act, your personality your expressions, the way you talk to the eye of the beholder, sense of humor is freaking sexy.
Well again it really depends on how I'm feeling about myself that moment or that day. If someone tells me I'm pretty or beautiful I always feel flattered, girl or boy (especially boys because they had the guts to say it to me, and that shows that I'm attractive to them) If I feel self-conscious about myself and my looks at that moment, I say thank you but I really don't think so that way (and that's why girls say things like "No I'm not") But then again if I feel pretty I'll smile big and blush!
Yeah, sexiness is mostly an attitude, beauty and hotness are extras! And when combined make a hugely sexy combo!
Damn straight :)
I don't think it necessarily means girls are more superficial. Girls are more likely to deal with unwanted attention from creeps than guys are, so girls tend to be pickier about who they want looking at them. It may not always be accurate to judge whether someone is a creep or a nice guy based on appearance, but it's a bit of a survival strategy. I would rather be stared at in the street by an attractive dude than an iffy looking guy because it's more flattering and it just feels better. But that doesn't mean I'm superficial about who I will actually date etc.
Besides, there are a lot of indicators that guys are actually the more superficial sex in general. They are simply more visual, to begin with. And girls are "required" by social norms to go to a lot more trouble with their appearances than guys are.
Um... don't try to tell me guys don't contribute to the whole insecurity-must-look-flawless-or-die issue that girls deal with. You may not be doing it intentionally- and maybe you personally don't- but guys have preferences and appreciate physical looks just like girls do, and sometimes they express those opinions in ways that contribute to the pressure girls already experience from the media and each other. I'm not necessarily BLAMING guys, but they are involved, and not completely passively.
And you're right about the second part. It's stereotyping and it's not a foolproof way of figuring out who is a creep and who isn't. But a lot of the time when a guy appears to have taken an effort with his looks- he is clean, well dressed, etc- it indicates that he has his act together. And a "creep" is less likely to be able to, for example, keep a job. Clearly, it's not always an accurate way to tell, which is why I still wouldn't get in a car with a stranger just because he's attractive.
But it can help be an indicator and that's why, for something as inconsequential as "checking out", it can influence girls' decisions and reactions to being checked out. I don't pretend that it's a perfect method. But it's better than nothing, and it's just what naturally happens.
that's why I said most guys don't care, I know some do.
and that's still no good, cause I'm not a creep and I don't try to look good for girls at all.
and I've met some well groomed guys that are just assholes and the biggest perverts ever, so that doesn't apply either, being groomed isn't that significant.
Well... I think it's a falsehood that "most" guys don't care about a girl's looks. I'm not a girl and I don't mean to speak for guys, but MANY- not just a few- APPEAR to care a whole lot. Anyways... just looking "attractive" isn't the only thing I use to try to determine whether or not I want a guy looking at me. But it's part of it. I'm sorry if that bothers you, bit it's kind of a fact of life.
The fact is, you're right, it's a bit superficial. But this particular case in no way proves that women in general are more superficial than men in general. And I don't think any case will ever prove such a thing.
The thing is, this question- whether you want people staring at you in the street, basically- isn't really the same as just asking each gender how much looks matter to them. There are more variables because girls have to deal with certain anxieties (rape, stalking, sexual harassment) that guys don't have to deal with as much. I'm not saying those things are never a problem for guys, but it certainly isn't AS prominent an issue for them. You're right, judging a book by it's cover is
frequently wrong. But I think it's understandable that girls are pickier and more worried about who they want checking them out than guys are. When you've never even spoken one word to a person, what do have to judge them based on other than looks? It doesn't mean that when girls actually get to know a guy, they are as superficial. And it also doesn't mean that just because a guy is attractive, a girl will instantly trust them. But it's not fair to judge how superficial girls are in general
based on this. As a guy you may not be able to fully appreciate the confusion and conflict that can arise in these situations for girls. You have a valid point. But again, it doesn't prove anything about women being more superficial in general.
The issue I have with this whole thing is that this particular situation is not necessarily a good representation of all other situations. Perhaps girls are more superficial IN THIS SITUATION than guys are IN THIS SITUATION. But that doesn't mean that in the overall picture of how each gender views the other, girls are more superficial.
But still, I'm assuming that you mean strangers. I mean, if you're in a relationship with someone or dating them, obviously you won't be creeped out if they look at you. So...
I guess my reaction does depend somewhat on the atmosphere of where it happens. But still. Being checked out is "a situation", it's not asking people how much they care about appearances in general.
I don't understand how I'm missing the point. You're saying that the fact that women sometimes take a guy's appearance into consideration when deciding whether or not she want him to be looking at her etc. and guys don't seem to care as often means that girls are in general more superficial than guys. Or is that not what you're saying? It may not be the main point of your question, but you're the one who brought the matter up.
I'm offended by the notion of girls being seen as the more superficial gender when guys (in general) also act superficial in so many ways.
I've seen them. The point I am trying to make is that there is a difference between situations. I am tired of this conversation too, but I think it's wrong of you to try to use this question as proof that one gender is over all more superficial than another. There are too many variables associated with the specific question you asked.
Are you stupid? Did you or did you not update the question saying, and I quote, "i think this shows girls can be more superficial than guys."? If I took your post the wrong way, please do clarify for me what you really meant. But for crying out loud do not tell me that I'm the one who "made it about that".
Fair enough, but please, you DID bring it up.
I hate it so much :( :(
especially when guys stop whatever they're doing to look at me from head to toe and still looking when I walk pass, it makes me feel like an object or food or something :( don't like it. I mean when I dress up all nice I know I look nice, I don't need anyone to confirm it to me in such a way.
that's just me though.
I completely agree Prisca. I hate it.
i'm sorry you both have to go through that, but its just a fact of life, guys are gonna look at you everywhere you go. you can't stop them, so the smartest thing for you to do is to learn to deal with it.
and think of how it would be for you if guys never looked at you again. what would you do when you want to find a guy and no one finds you attractive?

I don't mind when guys check me out...its actually a compliment to some extent. But when they are yelling from their cars or shouting at me on the street like I'm a whore on sale,THEN I have a problem. Otherwise it's okay as long as they are respectful. Geese,i have a craving for mac n' cheese.
Normally if a guy is checking me out, I might ask my girlfriends hey is that guy looking at me whatever, but until he approaches me, I feel like he might be complimenting me. it depends on the guy and the situation. if you feel me ya know? I think girls like to get a guy to look their way but on the other hand, we don't want a guy staring without a reason to. That is when it gets creepy.
But just keepin it real.
If you are walking and guys honk or whisle at you I don't really care you just move on and whatever. But if say a guy is in your class and you constantly catch him looking at you I find it gets kinda awkward. But if they are cute it isn't that bad aha
I don´t have a strong opinion about it, I mean if it´s a creepy guy it would feel just weird and I would just ignore him and go on, but if it´s an attractive guy I don´t really care, (I know what you´re thinking, but it´s true!) it doens´t mean I'm superficial it´s just that look is what gets to you first so.. You make your first opinion with it, like it or not ;)
I like being checked out, as long as it's not by an obvious creeper. Either way it doesn't happen very often.
What I DON'T like is when random guys grab my ass in clubs/bars. Alcohol does not make my body your property... next time it happens I'm going to turn around, grab at his crotch and ask "...where's the rest of it?"
depends on whos looking at me. I've had some really creepy encounters and I've even been followed to my car once by a dark skinned guy trying to get my number but thank goodness I was with a girlfriend..It's just gotten to the point where I just feel awkward when people stare me down, sometimes I just want to be invisible haha, I usually feel like I have something on my face or my body that causes people to stare, but I dunno...Its alright I guess
yeah its a pain in the assss and yea I guess I ammmm a little insecure? Yeah I am, lol damnit...
i guess I like it if an attractive guy checks me out. But if he likes what he sees and hits on me, he should acutally be looking for something. I hate when guys constantly hit on girls like it doesn't mean anything and then later they act like its weird that that girl thought that they liked her.
what do you mean it's stupid?
oh yeah true. at first I thought you meant it was stupid that the girl would think that.
I honestly don't think anyone has checked me out, but I'm pretty dense to such things. I can tell what a lot of people think about others or the situation at hand they are in, but I can never tell what anyone thinks or feels about me. But I think I'd like it, though be a little uneasy at first cause it's something new.
Ask your female friends about it. It probably frustrates them too, and they'll likely be eager to help.
Frustrates? Say what?
I am very distracted so even though people tell me that it happens a lot, I hardly notice. When I do notice it I am usually flattered. The only time when it freaks me out is when it's like an old man or when its someone you know is only checking girls out for the entirely wrong reason. I don't really care about someone's appearence when they're checking me out, just as long as they don't seem like a creep.
It depends. I don't like being looked at in a very rude and disrespectful way. I've just had bad experiences with it. If a guy checks me out in a quiet, non offensive way then yeah it makes me feel pretty. It's the honking in a car, trying to match your speed in their car so they can keep looking at you or yelling at you from across the room. Especially when they say something offensive. That's when it makes me uncomfortable and pisses me off. Haha.
Haha I used to, but it just causes more problems. Because they get pissed off that you don't think they are the best thing this world has to offer. Just turns into an altercation :P
Haha I have no idea how she did. But I must admit if someone did that face to me I would be like "Okayyyy..." and walk away. I could never keep a straight face, I'd just end up laughing!
Haha then that will diffuse the situation and both people would walk away
I don't really like it, I'm a paranoid sort of person so I would be thinking there's something on my face or somethings gone wrong. If they are smiling at me then I wouldn't really mind but would still be wondering why.
Well personally I like it, It makes me feel pretty whether they are unattractive or not, but I would be creeped out if it was an old man checking me out D:
I don't really care tbh. It makes me paranoid when people check me out anyway, but it doesn't bother me in an emotional sense, so it doesn't bother me, but I'd rather not be looked at.
Like in the sense that you feel "Ooh, they're watching me" and kinda start to awkwardly... RUN away, haha. XD
I could imagine doing it alright! I'm crazy in that way. If I really liked them, I'd probably make a fool of myself and completely STALK them... Nahh, not really. I'm not that bad. :)
I don't like it right now because it makes me want a girlfriend or at least sex, and that's not really healthy for me right now because I need to focus on fixing my lifestyle. Not a big problem but I'm always like damn, I wish I could go talk to her. Confidence isn't my problem I just don't really feel comfortable making a decent girl fall for a recovering drug addict with the social life of Emma Watson.
I love when hot girls check me out and I give them the look because it's happen where their friends come up and say "hey my friend thinks your hot" and then I'll go over, have a convo then bam I'm in! :)
I don't care or mind. As long as they don't do anything strange to me then its all good to me ^_^. I have a past where some girls/guys would get "frisky" and try to grab my ass or something. That I don't like, ever lmao. now I see why girls hate it
Lmao oh wow
generally its flattering when someone checks you out, its even better when their attractive, but sometimes it can be really creepy, like if someone stares at my chest, or if someone is way to old for me
I like to be told that I'm pretty.. I don't really like to feel like I have been eye f***ed less its by my boyfriend.
depends what they're "checking out." if they look a second too long at my face sure, that's fine. If they you know...check me out ; \...then no. it make me feel trashy and cheap.
my answer :
1- it depends if its a girl I always like it, but staring for too long is a little creepy.
2-if they're attractive I would smile , if they're not I would ignore.
3- yes
Depends who it is. If its some middle aged
Man no but if its a young guy and hes
Not doing in in a freaky way then yea.
Heck yeah I like it!
Chubby, thin, short, tall, black, white. Who Cares!
It's nice to know I got it ; )
...doesn't mean I'm going to respond in kind though.
I don't really care...BUT, when a guy is vulgar, then it gets annoying and embarrassing.
I like it sometimes. If they're attractive, I'll probably flirt back, honestly.
I love it, it's such an ego booster, for girls and guys and it makes you feel good about yourself.
I can never tell, LOL. Guess how successful I am. :P
"Someone thinks I'm hot, I see you looking."
Yeah, I like it.
of course I do. it's flattering. it makes me happy knowing that my effects in my appearance aren't wasted
I won't lie, I like the attention, I mean, I'm only human.
Only thing I can say I don't like is when the dudes take it too far
LOL @ the feminists who have problems with guys checking them out, how typical
It's only human to like flattery or to take appreciation in praise, it's an ego boost. It isn't like it's only limited to certain people
I know, but it's natural, it isn't like it's a choice, just like some people have insecurities, it's only human
'I don't like it' is not enough said.I hate it.It makes me feel cheap and disgusted. It doesn't matter how hot they are.
You said people. My boyfriend is a different thing, I don't feel like a piece of meat when he looks at me.I guess I have some issues going on ha ha I know a lot of girls are flattered by this.
Um I don't actually feel bad about it.I'd rather be in this extreme than the other.I fail to see which part in not liking to be checked out by random men is worthy of getting down arrows tho hah
Normally they try to not make it obvious but when I see it I think its nice but id rather someone just come up and flirt.
I find it weird when men are out with their wives and they're staring at me. especially when my momma's with me.. it's just gross.
haha you should call him out for it.
i like it, if they are attractive then I feel really really good about myself and I know I'm having a good hair/clothes day :]
Well... now that I have someone, I just don't seem to care. When I was single, I enjoyed it.
i would be flattered to have someone check me out but sometimes it is creepy unless they are really good lookin lol
its flattering no mater what, if the person is attractive, it might be better if there's a chance of doing something about it, like talking to the person, but if you're not looking for that, then its shallow to only like it if the person is attractive. that's how dumb people get played.
If an average or extremely good lucking guy looks at me by all means stare away.
If anyone below average looks at me...I wish they would not want them staring at me because imma feel ugly-ish
I like it because it makes me feel better about myself.
It's flattering and of course I like it. As long as they are not overdoing it. In that case I can feel uncomfortable.
I honestly get extremely bothered when a person I find unattractive checks me out. EXTREMELY bothered. And a lot of guys seem to like looking at me which just makes me wants to f***ing. HUIARGHVIREG!
because I dislike when ugly people look at me? and guys? I don't find a guy looking at me thinking about the size of my d*** flattering.
Haha, I'm with this guy lol.
i'm sorry, I don't find it particularly flattering.
i don't like it because I'm insecure about my looks.
Oh, no! You realize we check you out because we like what we see, right?
Heck ya! As long as its my clothes or my face, but then it gets really uncomfortable and offending when guys check out my butt or my chest -_-
How can you tell? I have NEVER noticed anyone checking me out.
I figure I'm too ugly for that sort of thing.
Interesting to find that no female has said they don't like it.
yup it helps boost my confidence
I agreee
yup yup ha ha I think most people like it
It's a tiny ego boost, but usually it doesn't affect me too much.
i really like it.
I love it! :)
yeah, I like it.
Yup I like it. :)
Nope I wouldn't mind
meh.
haha dam, perverts are dangerous. you must be super hot then haha
well, in the summer, I get hot easily, so I spend most of my time, if not all my time with my shirt off.
and in the summer, my sisters bring their friends over a lot. and honestly, just from what I've noticed and what my sisters have told me, I think about 70% of their friends have either had crushes on me or thought I was hot. and on the street I've caught a few looking but I never know if they like what they see or not.
watching TV lol
well as you can see, I spend a lot of time on this site, its like a small addiction.
