by the way, with regards to your question, you don't need to flirt by conscioisly making an effort to flirt. Just approach him and smile and that will break the ice. At most, wave at him at a suitable moment. After that, the rest will be up to him if he has the will to reciprocate.

You should be straight forward with the person. Tell him, " I'm really nervous talking to you because I have a crush on you". If he's a good guy he will make you feel more at ease. I really don't think you embarrassed yourself. You just need to take a deep breath and say " I can do this" in your head and try talking to him again.

I'd say, even if she's not, but especially if she is awaiting a response. You get nervous and you just don't know what to do or say. I'd say it's more of an anxiety attack, thats probably the best way to describe it. You get the same feeling from freezing up with fear from something you are afraid of
