It can happen but it's not likely. If it was going to be a relationship it already would be. Don't catch feelings for friends with benefits, that's the golden rule.

I think friends with benefits tend to be more damaging for women, then men. If a man has friends with benefits with a woman; the woman is pretty enough for him to sleep with (low threshold), but the man thinks he can do better for a relationship. I believe women are more likely to fall in love with a man from friends with benefits. Probably has to do with genetics/evolution of falling in love with the father of the woman's children. Men are better able to compartmentalize sex vs love.
