How can I flirt via texts or snaps?

We don't really meet a lot because we live far from each other so most of the time we only text or snap. I kinda like the guy but don't know how to flirt with him through texts without being too obvious. We text and snap daily. One time when I couldn't think of a conversation opener, I sent him a snap of me smiling with my puppy and wrote "We're sending u this snap to brighten up your day" Because I couldn't think of sth better obv. But he replied with a thank you and asked about my day, so I don't even know if it was a successful flirting attempt.

The same way you would in person. Compliment the other person and ask them questions that make them laugh.
