Does it sound like my co-worker likes me/has interest?

I'm really starting to think my one co-worker might like me. It started off as just staring. He would watch me (not in a creepy way), look my way and stare a ton... but never approach me. Then it went to friendly smiles in passing. Well now, he's started approaching me and speaking to me.

First encounter was brief. He asked me to borrow something of mine that he should have had his own of. He kind of seemed like he was debating what to say and if he should go for it at first because he kind of hung around and walked back and forth a couple times before he actually came up to me. Then he asked me if he could borrow something. When he asked, I said yes and gave him what he asked for. He gave me a smile and thanked me and I said you're welcome. When he was done with it, he brought it over to me and I thanked him for giving it back and he said you're welcome. He seemed to relax a little more once I was friendly about it. He did make eye contact when asking. The second encounter had a lot more communication. He talked a lot more and even help me with some stuff that was messed up. He also scolded the people responsible for the mistakes and told them it was unfair to me. He stayed around quite a bit and kept coming back periodically to check in with me to make sure I was getting along ok. He seemed to want to keep finding reasons to talk. He smiled a lot, made eye contact and even laughed at a joke I threw in. I thanked him for helping me and he said it was no problem.

So does it sound like he is interested? I'd like to test things more. What are some good examples for me to find ways to talk to him and find out more about this situation?
