Doesn't it depend on context? Seems very similar to the phrase "Shove it up your ass", which has zero sexual connotations.
I can imagine two basic situations:
1) Some girl is always annoying people with her gerbils - everyone has to say they are cute, she breeds and sells them as pets, and just doesn't stop talking about them. => "If you don't stop talking about them I will stick gerbil up your ass" would mean to stop annoying them with it.
2) The guy uses "gerbil" as a sort of codename for his reproductive organs. => Then it would have sexual subtext.
No, it's a reference to the rodent, and a South Park episode where 4th grade teacher Mr Garrison, in an attempt to get fired for being gay so he can sue the school for $25 million dollars, hires his boyfriend Mr Slave as his teacher's assistant (teacher's ass for short), and shoves the class gerbil Lemmiwinks up Mr Slave's tight ass in front of all the students
