Is asking for a guys number too forward and weird?

I like this guy in one of my classes and my friends and family were giving me advice. They always tell me to just show myself as approachable (it’s hard for me to just smile when I see him because I think he’ll think I’m being weird or something), but I’m not good at doing that and the guy I like seems kinda shy and I barely see him around anyone. Bad combo

The women always tell me that I shouldn’t approach a guy because that their job it makes a woman look like she’s desperate and chasing the guy. Neither of them had to approach ever, guys they’re antes would flock to them.

Should I ask for him number or wait? I don’t wanna risk that he never approaches me but, I don’t wanna chase him and feel played and stupid.

Guys get approached by gals that are not into them for all sorts of reasons all the time.

It's not like you would be making a move just by talking to him.

So don't act LESS interested than the gals who are not interested but do talk to him.

i swear people ask for each others IGs these days. I think it would be less awkward and more natural that way and then slowly move up to the actual number.

You can always bump into him keep it casual very simple and start with small talk. Make him feel comfortable and you can always use numbers later
