Asking a friend for a guy's number?

So I met a guy a while back who is a mutual friend. When we first met, our mutual friend (lets say Bob) kind of made a joke and said we should go on a date. At the time, I wasn't in dating mode so I kind of laughed it off. Now, after spending more time with this guy, I've grown to like him and would like to get to know him better.

Unfortunately, I'm way too shy and awkward to ask for him number- and he hasn't asked for mine either. I feel like to move this forward, I should have a means of communication with him.

Would it be weird if I asked Bob for this guy's number? Especially cause I kind of turned down the opportunity earlier on? I can't think of a reason (excuse) to get Bob to give me his number though!

Asking someone else for his number would be weird and since you're too shy to get his number on your own, you probably won't call or text him anyway. Make an excuse in which you HAVE to get his number. Maybe go hang out with some of his friends and get their numbers and get his while you're at it. Make it seem like he's an equal and not any special until you start to text him. Or just simply ask him for it. It seems really hard especially if you're shy but it goes a long way. Trust me.

Just bring up the convo up with your friend bob and see how this guy feels about you , guys always talk he will go back and say oh she asked about you. does he show that he is still interested? you dnt turn him down really you just laughed it off you dnt say no exactly so, I would take that as oh she's shy to yes or something

It doesn't hurt to go for it, lots of guys like to be the laid back one when it comes to the chase. Those are the experts, they know they should the the challenge instead of chasing the girl they rather have the girl chase them. Which it works a lot.
