so I've gone to this place 3 times now. only the first time did he wait my table and my brother was the one he spoke to, but the other times i see him at the front (I've never been there alone and its almost always to order takeaway than sit) and he looked at me a little the second time i went there, the third time he looked at me while passing by and then walked behind me it felt like it was in slow motion. How do i approach him? the problem is im in a foreign country I don't know how the language of but im pretty sure he speaks English? i also dont want to go up to him and end up interrupting him as he's working so im not sure what to do
customers do ask things like 'are you new here?' or 'how long you worked here for' or 'you have an accent, where are you from?' in the past, which isn't too bad.
the best way i can suggest is to ask him something relative when it's not too busy, like 'what do you like to eat here?' when ordering. it gets him talking about himself slightly and isn't too personal. then you can slowly break the ice from there by asking slightly more personal questions 😸. if you wanna play it safe, always make sure that the questions are relative to his role as a waiter.
