So I recently went through a breakup with someone I worked with, and it was pretty well known throughout the store that we were together/a thing. This is necessary information for the question haha. There is a guy in my department that I work in that I don't see super frequently and haven't talked to much, but recently we had an interaction that felt a bit flirty.

We were in the backroom just casually talking about work and friends we'd met there.

Him: Hey, are you dating that guy here?

Me: I *was* dating him, but we broke up

Him: Do y'all still talk?

Me: Sadly no

Him: Why not?

Me: He doesn't want to talk to me anymore

Him: Why?

Me: It's complicated man

Him: Well it's his loss. Cause you're like, WAY pretty, like, out of his league. It's *his* loss.

I then proceeded to blush hard and even told him that his comment made me so. Did this sound like flirting to y'all or just him being nice and giving a compliment? He is a cute and attractive guy but still don't want to get involved with anyone new anytime soon due to my recent breakup. Genuinely just curious about y'alls thoughts.

Also I hope me reciting the conversation doesn't make me sound like I'm bragging or anything lmao, just repeating his words not mine lol. Not saying I agree with it because I definitely do not.

Yes it was kind of flirtatious. But here’s the thing. Is he interested in something serious or some side action. The game is played the same regardless of which way it goes. To me your comment would have to thrown ups red flag. Like he doesn’t want to talk to you. Like why? It makes it sound like you’re the one who did something. Flipped out, stalked him or something.

I've had almost the same conversation before. When I do it, it's to casually flirt. We don't want to go all in and potentially get rejected. Yet we want our point to get across. Next time you see him when you're feeling confident say,"Do you think I look pretty today?" He'll say yes if interested which he is. Then say," Then why haven't you asked me out?" Good luck

Before I saw your update I was writing: Guys don't even use the word "pretty". Having seeing your update it makes sense! He is trying to talk like a woman because he's gay. I never say pretty. Cute maybe but it's VERY rare. I guess if we were talking about food.. it's like saying food "looks like something came out of an easy bake oven that was made by VERY skilled children". Not the same as a luxury steakhouse meal.
