I think they sometimes do it to cut us down - most (not all) guys think that most girls walk around with massive egos. However, girls as a group are way more insecure than guys - especially the girls who act like they're "all that" (they're the most insecure of all)! I think the last thing we need is a reality check, but a lot of guys seem to think that we need that from time to time (as if airbrushed size zero models aren't terrorizing us enough).
For example, in one of my classes a couple of years ago, a guy who was subtly hitting on me every once in a while asked me what my nationality was. I'm Polish, and after I answered him, this guy's response was "Wow, so does that make you a Nazi?" It was an incredibly cruel and factually inaccurate thing to say, but I could tell by the way he was watching my response that he was trying to see if he struck a nerve. Not okay.00 Reply

Anonymous(36-45)+1 y...I think they do. I have no idea why.
I had a guy do that to me just last week. Teasing is fine, but when you take that to the next level (winding the girl up), it's a huge pain in the butt. Then, you're just annoying.
I think there are quite a few jerks that are more subtle than just winding a girl up. So winding girls up may be a jerk move but I don't think it's the kind that attracts girls.30 Reply

+1 yBoth.
Generally I'm not doing it to be mean, I'm usually just kidding around. I will REALLY bust girls who are really obnoxious; if they're mean spirited, then from time to time I will call them on it; especially if I don't care what they think.
I had a waitress who said I never looked at her, so I got my friends to just avoid all eye contact with her. It was hilarious. She's attractive, but she's not my type, so I was more of just trying to wind her up and be funny.
Another girl I told her she thought she was too cool for us because she's not bothered with my friends or me very often; it was kidding around; I think she's cute, but she's avoiding everyone in spite of having so many similarities, so I kind of got tired of it. No hard feelings, but when I did talk to her, I bust her on it from time to time.00 Reply
Both, I've made fun of girls just to p*ss them off because for some reason I think its funny when they get mad. But I try to make them mad without crossing the line. I'm sure many of them were annoyed or didn't like me but that's beside the point.

I don't find it flirting though - or maybe I'm too serious.
+1 yI find it's a common practice of flirtation amongst younger or immature males.
Seeing as I am guilty of committing it myself, I am a younger or immature male.30 Reply
+1 yThey do it for both reasons. The main cause is because they like your reaction. It could be because they think it is cute, or because they think it is funny.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI knew a guy who'd do that to me. I'd get annoyed, and I wasn't sure why he'd act that way until one time he said to me (excuse the language) "It's so f**king cute when you make that face".

+1 yyep... it's a form of flirting. especially if the girl is shy.
30 Reply"Wind a girl up?" Sounds like you bought her at a toy store. I don't get what you mean.

it's a figure of speech referring to the act of provoking with the intent to deceive. It's an English expression so I doubt you would have heard of it - though we use it in Australia. Synonymous with riling or "stirring sh*t"

Okay thanks. It was a term I have never heard before. Maybe it's a thing for the younger generation. Maybe not. It could be just me. I try to be genuine. What you see (ugh) is what you get. Yeah yeah I know. I'm ugly. But other than that I'm genuine. I mean what I say. I don't play mind games. I really don't see any point.

Trying to get the girl worked up, like trying to get her horny.
+1 yDo girls purposely play with guys feeling and flirt with everyone like little whores?
33 Reply- +1 y
Flirtation does not a whore make.
- +1 y
Yes they all do that which is why I'm so pissed at them. They lead guys on cus they want f***ing attention. I'm sick of whores breaking my heart.
+1 yi think both can be true for both sexes, for the insecure to be very subtly narcissistic, but he may also he confident and like you.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yBecause often being a jerk gets you better results than being sweet. I didn't believe it until I experienced it.
20 ReplyIf a guy likes a girl, he may mind wind her up - but, it shouldn't go too far!
10 Replybecause its fun... and that's what chicks love, cause they do come back for more when we do that to them (from my experience)

well, how do you know they are trying to. different things are offensive- or not- to different people. if a guy was trying to insult me out of no where, id tell him to go f*** himself. I don't have time to waste with immature people.
maybe what you are talking about us less extreme.. idk. an example would be good.
part of flirting
