Do you think you can tell if someone is attracted to you by if their pupils are dilated or not?

I’ve read many studies and articles that indicate or outright say that pupils dilate when you’re looking at someone you’re attracted to, but also when there is too much lighting or not enough lighting.

Body language needs to be calibrated. OK a girl might twist her hair if she likes a guy but she might be in the habit of twisting her hair.

Pupils do dilate from both arousal and cognition but are dilated pupils aroused pupils? It might be like nipples. Sometimes they are just cold. Maybe I have food stuck on my beard.

So I think pupil dilation is going to be like (and arguably is) body language. If that girl doesn't twist her hair talking to others but does when talking to me then it is calibrated.

I think the surest guide is that someone who interested will want to talk to us.

There are many reasons for pupil dilation. Yes it can be caused by emotions related to attraction or arousal, but it can also be caused by fear, excitement, low light conditions, medications, recreational drugs, neurological conditions, or fight or flight response.

Generally, pupil dilation is not a good sole way of knowing whether someone is attracted to you or not.

If you’re standing close enough to them that you can see their eyes dilating you’re most likely turning them on.

When we talk to people close up, our eyes can dilate, this is down to our brains releasing oxytocin and dopamine which cause this dilation. When flirting it’s something to check for, as you can flirt with your eyes.

However it’s not always a guarantee that the person likes you.

This is a new technology, combined with brain mapping, is being used for credibility assessment (lie detection). I think you would need a controlled environment to determine if pupil dialation is a factor.

Pupillary reaction is a good indicator of attraction. If you can't tell what colour their iris is, they're probably attracted to you

But dilation is usually involuntary.
