And what's the difference between them smiling or just staring at you? Esp. if they're men? I noticed patterns of behaviors.

My hypothesis:

• Young men - They will look and turn away when I catch them looking.
• Old men 60++, yes those creepy stares are real. They will never break eye contact. Almost like Death Stare, but it's not. (I don't know where to report when they're all retired. 😂)
• Men with confidence? will smile broadly. (The most attractive ones I met winked.)
• Shy and social awkward ones - They'd use an equipment to take a peek, since 1990s until now. (From cameras >> mobile phones)

I'm interested in social psychology for a long time though I don't have a chance to study in the field. Self-study isn't bad, eh? That's why it seems like I have so much time on my hands. Please don't mind me.

how people express (or not) attraction is different for each person... 10% of the population is autistic, which makes them act differently. Some people are naturally shy, others have had not nice experiences... only about 25% of the population are people called "ongoing"...

so we would have people observing from afar, people who will steal glances but never make a move, people who will awkwardly try to show themselves, people who are confident in their strengths and will show them (humor, some skills like juggling, etc.) to attract attention, people, who are open and straightforward or just don't know any other way of approaching another person and people who do it naturally.

I have never seen two guys of the same age acting the same way... but I saw many shy or outgoing guys of different ages acting the same...

also, staring older men is not my experience... actually, men older than me are very good at starting conversations in a natural, respectful, and pleasant way.

Men with confidence? To know if a man is confident or arrogant or just plays, time is needed... most confident men I got to know are not in a hurry to approach or showctheir interest. They believe in their instincts and prefer to observe before taking any action.

Shy and with social difficulties are not predictable as they mostly copy the behaviors of others... so you never know :D

Thank you very much for your input, esp. on autistic people. I just learned recently that they don't make eye contact at all for they will look at objects, not people's faces.
My knowledge is still limited, I admit that.

I think probably it's cultural or learned behaviors within a social circle. That leads to patterns?

autism is a spectrum, that means people have some traits but not all of them. Not keeping eye contact is quite common but not every autistic person has this trait. Also a lot of people, including me, learned many common social behaviors because no one treated us in special way when we were kids and we had no other choice but to fit in.

a lot of behaviors depend on family and general environment during childhood. Observing others, especially parents in childhood, created printed in our psyche patterns which are the hardest to change.

The later experiences created second layer of patterns. But in the moment of a huge stress we always return to those printed in us in the childhood.

I just made educated guesses but we don't have to be accurate in our assessments with the way I approached dating and courtship.

If I thought there was any decent or better chance that a woman is interested in me like she's responding very enthusiastically in my conversation with her, I asked her to hang out with me some more in a very easy and light-hearted way. Very simple!

If she refuses, I figure she wasn't interested and I was wrong; maybe she was just being extra polite or something by showing a lot of enthusiasm. If she accepts, then maybe she's at least slightly interested and if I have any doubts, I'll find out over the time we spend together in the future.

I don't see why we need to be very good at this with my approach. I think too many focus on trying to read signs when they should just gamble more (but small, safe bets that doesn't risk making the other person feel awkward).

I agree that attraction should be simple, not a mind game. I do like it when I am with someone and don't have to guess anything at all. If he likes me, just say that. No tactic is needed.

Maybe it's because of your personality? I just realized the people I feel content to be around, they are light-hearted. Bubbly and predictable lol. I mean I can't detect any signs of hidden agenda from them. People who make me feel safe to share stories in my daily life too.

Those are my favorite as well although my wife is more introverted and sometimes more quiet/reserved around others, but with me she really turns into an open book. I think being the stereotypical ENFP who literally thinks out loud, it became a top quality I sought in a mate that we could share whatever is randomly on our minds with each other very freely.

On your 16 personalities video, I think nailed some of me! 😅 I don't always speak in such a nerdy or philosophical way, but it's definitely included in my habits to overanalyze a silly movie like Napoleon Dynamite and turn it into a nerdy philosophical discussion. 😂

I think while that video does include a subset of my tendencies, mostly I'm just very random. Since I'm always speaking off the cuff, the conversation just tends to go in all sorts of unpredictable and completely random, sometimes absurd directions depending with whom I'm speaking.

I really like the chaos of spontaneity. Like if I'm dancing with a new woman, I don't want to do rehearsed dance moves. Let's make up new ones on the fly! We can respond more to each other and have more a dialogue rather than monologues. It might a bit awkward sometimes, might step on each other's toes a few times, but if we can do it and have a good time and laugh, I figure we're set to improvise together for the rest of our lives as life throws unpredictable situations at us. So I enjoy going off the script; I think that's how we truly learn about each other in ways no interview can ever reveal.

Of course. But what I'm saying is you need to get that women are aggressive when they want something FROM men and not as aggressive when they simply want men. So to men it comes off of as, "I really want this FROM you. but you as a person... eh, I can take it or leave it".
Women are not the only gender that want to be wanted to. But women don't really do that. So a guy almost assumes if a woman is showing interest, it's a hustle of some kind. Understand?
