Why would a guy suddenly avoid eye contact with a girl he used to talk to all the time?

It's very difficult to tell, especially since things seemed to be going very well with him. There are a few possibilities including that he has developed a crush on someone else or he is upset with you. I suggest you ask him if you're done something that has upset him.

He isn't avoiding her, he's not focusing.

Maybe he likes you so much he is embarrassed by it. Maybe he is worried about being a creep.

here is what was in the other one: Last year, my crush and I talked and joked almost daily from March–May. He'd turn toward me, raise an eyebrow to see if I laughed at his jokes, then grin when I did. He complimented my intelligence, asked how I knew things, and came to my homeroom the last two days of school supposedly for a project, but we mostly talked. His usually serious friend also said, “no no guys stop, *crushes name* already likes *my name*,” when people shipped him with another girl. I didn't even like him then or flirt.

This year we have no classes together. Since August he's made eye contact with me a lot and always tries to like size me up when walking by because he's only 1/2 a inch taller. Recently, he started switching lunches and sitting near me. Last Friday, I caught him making eye contact with me about 10 times throughout the day, sometimes looking first.

His friends have been teasing him about me for the past few weeks. One friend wsipered“*his name extended*” in my ear, and another time his friend said “Look, it's my name, who wants to date *my name*”. His friends have also looked at me and reacted when I walked past. Since the teasing started he has sometimes switched to my blacktop, even though his hallway has a different one.

Monday, everything suddenly changed. He barely looked at me, stopped switching lunches as much, and faced away from me. Walking to the car-rider line, he looked back at me three times and moved into my line of vision while talking loudly to a younger boy when he noticed I was right behind him. Tuesday, my friend overheard him saying my name to his friends, but didn't hear the whole conversation and thought it sounded like good news. I also wanna state he's never had a girlfriend, is popular (I don't know if that has smth to do with it), and when he's liked other girls he's ignored them completely, and I don't thinks he's doing that he seems hyper aware.

I don't know what happened Can you help?
