Was the waiter interested or just a flirt?

I was at an Italian restaurant the other day and this really cute waiter kept flirting with me--joking that he wanted to join me and kept coming over to chat (he wasn't my waiter so wasn't getting a tip from me). I was at the bar being waited on by the bartender. I was intensely attracted to him. He kept looking over at me and smiling and I smiled back. He touched me on the upper back. This didn't seem like normal waiter flirtation--it seemed like more. He ran out after me when I left and asked when I was coming back. I said I wasn't sure if I could as I'd be working and he ran off! Was he really interested or just a flirt? I've never been interested in a waiter before, nor have I taken them seriously until now...PS, yes he was an Italian guy!

I can think of no reason to run outside after someone to ask that if I wasn't trying to be subtle but obviously interested. The touching, all of it is flirting definitely but the extra effort was probably an attempt for you to take the initiative. Look at it this way, if you go back and the behavior continues just come out and ask him bluntly if he's just flirting or if he is actually interested.

When dealing with men you should always just be direct and blunt. I know it's not always easy but you would know without spending all this time wondering if he really does like you.

But hey..you're going to keep wondering until you actually find out...so just go back...if he's there and repeats action...play the little game of questions while he bounces back and from your table...

Waiter, clerks, etc. are prone to be nice to customers. Because they expect to get a higher tip. It's their job practically. So don't count on anything about these guys unless they're giving out their number or asking for your's.

Most likely just flirting. I used to be a waiter for a long time. Very common MO on the floor...

He wasn't my waiter, so I wasn't going to be tipping him anyway and at this place service is included in the bill.
