Honestly, no. We SAY leggings and yoga pants are for comfort, and really they are pretty freaking comfortable. But they also have the added bonus of being form-fitting- they show off your muscular legs and butt (from all that yoga) really well while walking the line of comfort mixed with a bit of fashion. (I'm assuming we're NOT talking about the see-through type of leggings/pants). See, leggings and yoga pants can be and often are paired with nicer shirts that are long or floaty to give you a more professional look- you're comfortable but you don't look like you're wandering around in sweats. If all we women wanted was to be comfortable, we'd just wear baggy sweats and ratty old hoodies/t-shirts.
It's different with men, because you can't really pair your leggings/yoga pants with a nice peasant shirt or a tunic that you belt in the middle- at least not without looking as if you're cross-dressing. If you just wear leggings and a regular shirt, you look a bit like you're mixing workout wear with every-day attire. Sort of like if I wore my sneakers with a pencil skirt and a workout top- I'd just look funny.
As far as I'm concerned, if you want to rock the yoga pants/leggings for workouts or at home when you're in your comfies, anyone can do it regardless of gender. But for every day attire- it's just not something men pull off very well...59 Reply- +1 y
I wear them at home all the time. They are softer than leggings and more comfy than sweats, and even sensual with my girl in private, but I wouldn't wear them out even with a long top or a belted tunic like you say just for coverage alone. Leggings on the other hand, with the right top or tunic is probably not ok for work, but just for casual shopping or coffee, I'll do. Of course it is crossdressing because they are women's clothes and leggings don't even have pockets so you have carry a purse to hold your credit cards and best case you look like a girl, but you're already at the mall, lol.

Well it really shouldn't matter if your comfortable wearing whatever go for it cloths are just that cloths. Back in the older days guys wore make up dresses hotpants and many other things wear what you want enjoy life because you only have one and its seems so long but in real life it passes by so fast. And ps they wear them in baseball and football and I've heard all you ladys say omg nice @ss and i get that all the time as well. so dont set so much of a double standard remember we are trying to move past that. they are comfortable and i do wear them im a guy.

I am in great shape. My fiancé seems to like them. They are comfortable as hell. I don't wear women's leggings. I wear men's Nike pro combat tights. I recently put them on to go to hot yoga and had to run to the store. Without thinking about it I just had them on. I felt very strange at first and I've only worn them that one time in public. I wish I could wear them without feeling like a weirdo. I look good in them. For a summer job I work as an ocean lg and wear a small suit every day. I don't see a problem with leggings. Hope things change. I say yes! Wearm' gents!

Well, I am a guy and have been wearing leggings in public for awhile now. I usually wear them with a long sleeved Nike basketball shirt with black tennis shoes and white socks. The shirt is long and covers my front, kind of like a tunic. But it's definitely a shirt. I tend to have a sporty look when I wear them. I think I look like a guy would look if he wore leggings as fashion. Fine. The reaction I get is never negative. In fact, I often catch females looking at my legs. The usually look away when I notice them. But my impression is they enjoy looking at a guy in leggings. They never get to see a guy's legs so freely and they seem to enjoy it.
I have to admit, I feel bad sometimes. I've really distracted a few ladies who had a hard time not looking. They just aren't used to it and they really struggled not to stare. I can see it in their faces. But I find leggings comfortable, so I still wear them. I'm seeing more guys wearing them lately. Usually under shorts but not always. - +1 y

You don't even know how sexist you sound. If women get to be comfortable then men have that right, too. What happened to gender equality? Do you women no longer subscribe to that anymore because you have more privilege now?

@KathyHolmes that was savage and needed to be said. Thank you for this comment.

I would say in a gym setting it would be more acceptable. In general public, as long as you are okay with it most of us guys have a masculinity insecure isssue w/going outside the baggy pants/shorts thing. Going to form fitting for us toned guys is like show casing the work we have put ourselves through to look great. I wear womens X tall leggings mostly high waist to a yoga/Pilates studio, sure I have gotten looks from a few no one has said anything and I am not bothered by it anyway.

+1 yThey ARE comfortable! but If I had a a package that's going to be all squished, and squashed, I don't think that would seem to be too comfortable lol xD Or are they? I thought guys liked that area with as much space as possible?
If in fact they are comfortable, even if your stuff is all crammed up, then all I have to say is:
Yoga pants don't look good on everybody. Yes even on girls! Some girls should NOT be wearing them out in public... and this applies to men as well. On some it looks okay, and on others it looks either funny or simply ridiculous.
People should know how to dress depending on their body, even when you don't care what others think about you, you should learn how to adequately dress your own body... (you referring to anybody reading this, not "you" in particular) :]!34 Reply- +1 y

That's actually a fallacy... the ole 'give the boys room to breathe' is usually the fall back of the... how to put it delicately? Inadequately equipped. For the others, it can be quite annoying to have certain things move around too much and end up in areas that aren't exactly comfortable.
While, medically speaking, it is generally good for things like sperm count to not wear things that will overheat the area, that does not necessarily mean tighter clothing, and is typically only a concern for someone who already has a lower than average count anyway. - +1 y
@Dashdragon OMG where to start, completely sexist and disgusting comment
What is it with men these days and wanting to dress like girls? Tights/yoga pants etc are a no no on men, unless you're a pro ballet dancer, and even then its only acceptable on stage. They weren't buit for men, they'll squash and show all of your equipment.

Edited on the flip side of what might have been said only 30 years ago... sort of...
"What is it with women these days and wanting to dress like men? Pants etc are a no no on women, unless they wish to look like boys. Pants weren't built for women, they'll squash and show all of their parts."
Darn that was awkward to do, I might have lost part of my point in how far i had to change, but point is. Pants in general at one time were men only. People for generations have been taking things traditionally for one gender and switching it to the other. Only 400 years ago (give or take) high-heels were for men only.
Also people have been joking about the amount of ass yoga pants show off on people for a long time now. There is very little left to the imagination no matter what gender puts them on. - +1 y
Here's the thing - It's not a matter of 'dressing like girls'. It's a matter of dressing in ways that they like for one reason or another, which is none of anyone's business. As LogosTreais gave with his example, we don't say this sort of junk about women and what they wear. They've earned the freedom to wear what they want, why should men have any less? Especially since most of this 'girly' clothing your eschewing (by association) actually originated from men.
As far as showing equipment... well... don't women constantly say 'if you got it, flaunt it'? Maybe some men feel the same way?
+1 ySo I am an older college student, I'm in my 30's. I live in the dorm here on campus so I see lots of leggings. In fact on any given day I would estimate 50% of the female student body is wearing leggings and that does not include jeggings that can't be clearly be seen as weather they are jeggings or actual jeans. Due to the "liberated" or open minded environment of a college campus combined with my dislike for restrictive, binding or baggy clothing I have recently began wearing yoga pants and some semi-fitted pants I recently found next to the leggings in Wallmart they fit me really well and in-spite of the fact that I am a muscular 210 lbs I can fit comfortably into a women's medium or large depending on the style. I always try to wear a long shirt to at least partially cover my front and rear, although I'm more concerned w/rear than front. The only time I will out right wear leggings is when I'm running on campus and then and only then I wear a shirt and don't care what is or isn't covered. Oh and no VPL, I only wear thongs - why you ask? Because they offer the support I want for my "package". That's right I don't have junk > spoiler alert < guys that call their package "junk" are sterile. Don't believe me? the term was started by a fertility physician for guys that can't have kids! LOL
81 Reply- +1 y
To add on to the 'junk' comment... I also find it hilarious when the overly baggy kids start saying crap about giving their boys 'room to breathe'. It's more like they're praying that it will give it 'room to grow'.
+1 yI recently (past month) started wearing women's soft, fleece lined leggings out to pretty much anywhere, grocery shopping, restaurants, bars, etc... usually a darker color like black, brown, and light grey...
I do wear them with lace or any style of panties, and yes you can see my panty line, especially in sunlight. Haha
I get some looks, but I think I look good in them and my girlfriend loves it too. I have nice muscular legs and butt, although my shape looks a little more like a woman in leggIngs which I actually like.
I don't wear them for anyone else. I do it because they super comfortable and it makes me happy. It doesn't matter to me what other people think.
I've been asked if I'm a fitness instructor, and although I do workout, after I act like I don't know why they would ask me that (haha) I tell them no, I just like wearing leggings.
Most reactions I get are positive. Granted, I'm in NYC where more people are tolerant than most other places...
So what do you think?22 Reply- +1 y
@Charly_79 That's awesome, and I agree. No one wants to see a bunch of fat barely being held together by tight leggings lol, but I think as a man, we can wear leggings and look pretty hot. When I wear my workout tights to the gym, lots of girls are looking. I think they appreciate the human form, especially on a man, right? Either way, I get to go home to the hottest girlfriend and she loves me in female attire, like REALLY loves it! Good for you my friend!

+1 yI am a 36 year old straight man. I share leggings with my wife and we both love it! She is very supportive of it. It's fun going legging shopping together and trying out new brands and styles. We tend to keep them to more private places like our home, a walk around the neighborhood, etc. and try to dress more professional for work and church, etc. I've worn them out in public numerous times like the grocery store, zoo, and on vacations and most people don't seem to even notice or care. I've only had a couple of people say some harmless comments.
Like others have mentioned, we try to wear longer shirts to cover everything. I like to wear them with a sporty T-shirt or sweater and sometimes cover it up with a sporty jacket or an unbuttoned dress shirt. I also wear a pair of tennis shoes with ankle socks. I like to wear black leggings in public but I have worn many colors out including blue, gray, green, etc.
Women look great in leggings but I think with the right style men can pull off the look as well! Have fun, be comfortable, and be confident!00 Reply
+1 ySimply, what is the reason to fight for equality, if things are not equal? If you feel like wearing a garment (clothing item) wear it... it is designed to not only cover your skin for protection, but also comfort and, purpose. If it makes you happy, or offer comfort, or go with what you are doing... do it.. You can only be belittled if you allow... I weak tights to run because "mens" running pants are either not made in my size, and or are just to heavy/bulky... I also wear kilts, which is a skirted garment. If other think it strange or try belittling my choice, 1 it is not doing any harm to them. 2 It is my clothing choice to wear what I want. 3 history... skirts and tights were and are mens items... just as pants high heels, ear rings... but everyone wears them... Let's be equal or not.. no double standards. Just saying.

MEN
So you girls
Just stop saying that MEN shouldn't wear legging
Ya, when MEN wear leggings the legging mold our fucking dick and everything else.
And when we do
You girls are just stalking at us
There are probably a lot of guys that will like that
But we shouldn't give a fucking shit about what girls and men think about us
We are in 2017
So you people think about that
And if so
Why does girls that wear men short or men shirt or men pants is allowed
But not MEN wearing Leggings
And yes I am a guy to and a guy who likes 100% women, and I have probably more men or girls legging than guys proper cloths41 Reply
+1 yI believe people should be allowed to wear whatever they want without being judged. There are a lot of women's clothes that where originally made for men that are now not ok for men to wear without be judged. If your comfortable wearing something no matter what it is then wear it.
90 ReplyBasically yes. (It sounds strange now, but excluding the last 40-50 years leggings were banned for girls, and about during 2000 years it was acceptable only for men. It is the question of habit) If a men wears them not this way shown on the picture, it is OK. Combined with a short, loose fit knicker, why not? It's practical, comfortable, light, and easy to combine it with different pants/shorts. it can looks well too.

+1 yI’m reading this question while at an airport waiting for my flight. I’ve see lots of women and young ladies wearing leggings. I’ve been told that they’re comfortable to wear and that’s why lots of women like wearing them, especially at the airport. But you don’t see men wearing leggings. As far as it being socially acceptable for guys to wear them, it’s not. As a society we prefer to dress women and girls in clothing like tights and leggings. So unless you intend to wear tights like one of the girls, people will wonder why you’re wearing leggings. They might assume you put on your wife’s tights by accident.

They are very comfortable, and super cute, too. I'm a guy, and I have several pair. I want to get some Victoria's Secret ones. Obviously you can't wear boxers with them, but any style of panties, or commando is fine. Who cares what people think?
Let them snicker, it honestly doesn't bother me, in the slightest😉00 ReplyIf you don't like them, STOP LOOKING. Nobody is forcing you to look. Just because you have shame about your body or the human body in general, it does not mean that everyone does. And while you may be stupid enough to view everything in a sexual way, not everyone does.

+1 yLeggings and yoga pants left too little to imagination. It's too difficult not to turn your head when you see a nice girl wearing them and sometimes that gets you into trouble. For men's to wear them, I belive will not be easy for society to accept it but definitely I will love to wear them in the office and present charges of sexual harassment to the first girl staring at my junk. :D
20 ReplyI know some guys tried to make "meggings" a trend earlier this year and although us guys didn't like it, it was girls who were really vocal about it. What is comfortable for women isn't always comfortable for men. We are built differently
00 ReplyPeople would laugh. Of course it's not "socially acceptable".
(not that there's anything actually wrong with it, but it's not socially acceptable)110 Reply- +1 y
Hell, I'd laugh too. But if they're comfortable, we should be able to wear them too, right? People aren't laughing at women.
- +1 y
Not really. I'm pretty sure men from the 1950s would consider today's man quite feminine, if not borderline homosexual. If millions of men started wearing it, it would be deemed socially acceptable, ie the feminine men styles of today. The reason that doesn't happen, and why it isn't socially acceptable, is because no one wants to look at pants riding up a guys ass and balls. But if girls want their pants riding up camel toe and ass, they shouldn't complain that men view them as objects.

@Dashdragon mate you can't make these youngsters understand anything and she is referring "ergo" meaning ass and hips well men have ass too so flaunt it and we males have hump as for women so flaunt it like they do with their breasts intact padding them to make them look bigger and we should be able to do the same lol 😁
- +1 y
Pants? Originally mens wear - right? Leggings are simply tighter fitting pants, so they are (as we know) not gender specific! Both men and women might want to consider body shape before putting on a pair of leggings, but really - it's no different.
Women wear 'boy shorts' (boxer shorts) and that's cool (with me and most folk), so there's no issue with a guy wearing panties & leggings - agreed? - +1 y

Stacy, lately my wife and I have switched. I started wearing leggings more as fashion around the house and running errands. And my wife tends to wear jeans most of the time. It doesn't turn her on or off, she has gotten used to it. But I think I kind of created a style that makes leggings work for guys. I only wear black, with a long sleeved white Nike shirt. I pair them with black tennis shoes and white ankle socks. It's hecka comfortable. But I 've come to realize, it's a bit distracting to some females when I go out shopping. I get looks at my legs sometimes. You know how when you notice guys looking at you when you wear leggings? I get the same kinds of looks, only from women. And my shirt is long enough to cover my front. I still distract them sometimes. So I think guys can wear them and make them work. When they first came out, they were for both men and women to wear as fashion. Then women Took them over for the most part and guys only wore them for sports. That's changing now.

I wear them (leggings) along with pantyhose which both are compression nylon spandex n no they don't squish anything... in fact the material is flexible so no squishing unless you pull them so tight then yes it would be... if all men would say heck with whatpyblic think just went outbought leggings n wore them everyday sooner or later it would be more sociable acceptable than not n if anyone thinks otherwise keep wearing them all the time who Cates what others think it's your body not theirs n they don't pay your bills or sign your check, even God says don't listen to others only him, in the bible Deuteronomy 22:4 or 22:7 it says that god doesn't care about what clothing you wear n if he says that then other opinions doesn't matter ! I encourage all men get a pair (s) n wear them out regardless of what anyone says ! , by not listening yo them n giving in to them you can change society's behavior n thought over time , but I will urge you to wear a shirt long enough to not show anything

Leggings are more comfortable, they soft, they help keep you dry n they let your legs n other areas breathe without exposing anything ! All guys stand up , buy leggings n wear them in public no matter what... public opinion doesn't make you a man n neither does clothing ! I think if other men encourage other men to wear regardless of any good or bad talk back plus girls would encourage guys to wear them then any stereotyping would come to a grinding halt ! Be bold n stand up n wear your leggings ! I don't care if you wore a dress pantyhose n heels if love wearing them go for it... its long over due society treats every equal wether it's clothing , or pay , regardless of anything else... you fill in the blank... please wear them immediately n quickly... dont hold back... longer we wait longer it will take to change society's mind n view point... wear leggings or anything else dress or whatever but be mindful of your body
