Attraction/sexual tension with guy at work...?

So there's this guy at work, in a different department from me.

I think he's quite a bit younger than me. He's quite cute. So far we've only ever said 'hi' to each other. He seems quite shy - often he'll just give me a nervous smile or press his lips together to suppress a smile as he looks at me. And I've caught him staring at me a lot, that's how I first noticed him, because he was totally staring at me. Like he'll just stand there and watch me as I go past, or he'll look at me, look away then look back again.

The other day I went into the kitchen at work and there he was. We had eye contact and I just felt weird, like it was only the two of us in the room. Then he stood beside me as he was fixing his lunch and it just felt like there was something hanging in the air between us - an energy I suppose. I felt nervous and excited and really self conscious. Is this sexual tension? I've only felt this sensation a couple of times before with guys. I wonder if he felt it as well?

Dating co-workers isn't frowned upon at our organization. In fact there's a few couples. I have no idea if he's single, or anything about him just his name and job title. I just feel so awkward around him and I'd like to chat to him more and find out more about him but I kinda freeze. Do you think he likes me?

It's some kind of tension. It's brought about because you, as the female, are left in suspense about this kid. Your situation is eliciting excitement, arousal, etc. That's why you feel that way.

Who knows if he likes you? Normally American men make the first move but it sounds like you're British . I hear those guys require some more attention, if so, give it to him.

"quite" is a dead give away. Americans don't usually use that word.

Try talking to him and ask for his number or add him on Facebook. In my experience as a shy guy, It is much easier to talk if you're not face to face. Don't be discouraged though if after a really good text conversation he doesn't open up in person. It takes a while for most introverts to get to that point.
