Has anyone ever tricked you into eating a bug or did you ever eat one by mistake?
I recall a guy in school eating chocolate-covered ants on his front porch. I'm not so sure I ever had any, though. The only bugs I KNOW OF that I ever ate were back in the late `60's/early `70's there was a toy out where you could make bugs that you could actually eat. Other than that,. I'm pretty sure I accidentally swallowed a few in my cereal bowl. I was making mother's oats for breakfast and, after eating a few pots of it, I noticed there were these tiny bugs crawling around in the bag so, I stopped eating those and fed them to the critters out front. No idea how many I actually ate before I found them but, I'm still here to talk about it 2 or 3 months later! I'm pretty sure there were also some in the flour I used to make gravy a few years ago, too.
I have eaten bugs before, not by choice or anyone forcing me, mainly accidentally, and mostly ants 🐜, for example Iām going to eat a snack or some left over food, then I begin eating after realizing that there where ants in it
My mum made mushroom soup from mushrooms she gathered herself... either one of them had bugs in it or (more likely) bugs got into them when she was drying them. Either way, I was eating the soup and suddenly tiny maggot like bugs started surfacing. It was a traumatic experience. I was the first person to eat so I am the only one who got to eat bugs :(
Yeah in school camp my 'friends' roasted few small worms and then crushed it and added in my noodles saying it is a special mix which makes food tasty! And yeah you know how much tasty it was. In return I added legs of crickets in their burger!
I was once riding my motorcycle with helmet and this wasp/ bee got inside the visor, dont know how. It was dangerously close to my eyes and I really could not stop, it went down and sat on my lips. I had to quickly with my upper lip bring it into my mouth and dispatch it with two bites with my molars. I tried not to taste the juices as I spat it out on the inside of the visor, but it tasted bitter and gross. But I was not grossed out by it, because I know I made the right choice. I do feel very bad for the bee/wasp though, wrong place, wrong time.
I know they are a good source of protein, I just donāt think Iāve ever had the occasion to try deep fried bug or a chocolate covered bug. Iām sure many of bug is fluent in my mouth or through my nose on bike rides or other outdoor activities.

I snacked on mealworms for a while. They taste a bit like almonds or pecans, but I'm not allergic to them.
Unfortunately they'll scratch the shit out of your throat if they aren't prepared correctly, so I stopped eating them after that. But otherwise, they aren't a half-bad snack.

I've eaten a couple grasshoppers. I caught a big one and roasted it over a campfire. It wasn't bad. When I was younger, my sister and I wanted to try them after reading about John the Baptist. Our dad fried a couple on the stove and we ate it with honey.
I'd try it again, but I don't want to catch one, and I think the ones they sell at stores will all be dehydrated.
I have never eaten a bug that I know of except if something flew into my mouth and I swallowed it. However chocolate and peanut butter has allowable amounts of rodent hair and insect fragments.
@laurieluvsit yes, and the rodent hairs end up there not because the rodent is shedding. It is because the rodent licks itself and swallows the hair and it comes out in the rat turds.
I've actually eaten insects on purpose. It's not that big of a deal and, depending on the type, they taste good. Many Eastern cultures eat such things.
So far, I've tried Superworms, Crickets, Weaver Ants, and Chapulines. They have a distinct earthy, musky, and game-like flavor. Been wanting to try Scorpions haha.
I stay in Samui, Phuket, and Chiangmai. Chiangmai as well as Samui are super nice and where Asian/Russian elite hangout-second homesā¦. I haven't but I would not mind. Good source of protein and better for the environment than meat. But they are not sold in the stores I go and only saw it on street food markets where it was overpriced and not worth trying for me. Hope the market gets bigger, I am sure it can taste nice with the right spices and so.
I would eat them if someone offered anyway. Humans have eaten bugs in history and it's a good source of stuff not exactly in opposition of that. Also if they were covered in chocolate they would just taste like chocolate tbh.

My hospitality teacher made me and my small class of 6 eat those foods that are made of bugs (some eco-friendly shit that is utterly stupid). Ants, roaches, spiders, we ate the whole lot that day. The week leading up to this ābug-feastā, she told us that we were going to be tricked into eating insects but we wouldnāt know until it was too late.
i heav eaten flavoured crickets and silk worms before. not cause i like it but simply cause it's anovelty thing and i was curious to taste it. the crickets were actually nice. the silk worms were disgusting.
I really do suggest trying out those snack flavour led crickets though. They really don't taste bad at all. Specially not since you're expecting to be grossed out.
The guy that gave it to me started laughing so hard he almost drove the car off the street. So I put the window down and spit it out. But he got a bunch of other guys later.
