Do you like canned sardines?

I eat them straight from the tin. Yummy
I love them, absolutely love them.

I used to try a brand that had amazing mackerel, tasted better then steak, but they cheated me when they were short on supply and I had to complain twice to get a refund so I never bought from them again. I thought if they cheat me a third time, Amazon will assume I’m a liar and refuse to refund my money if I complain, and it’s a shame cause their fish tasted better than lasagna or pizza etc…
It's a bit strong on the fishy and savory side for my taste, but I like it much more when I drink heavily. It is kind of treated like Otsumami (alcohol snack) here.
Well, as you said it is not really that fishy and savory. The ones I tried were even a bit sweet. I think I'm just a bit sensitive to aged seafood when I'm sober (less so after some drinks).
Maybe if you try some different brand or style. Some of them may not be so fishy.
I've tried a variety but mostly the ones here in Japan (but some imported from elsewhere). Maybe I would like the American kind in the tomato sauce. I'm actually weird about fishy tastes because I love squid jerky (atarime), for example, and I think to most people that smells and tastes so strong! It is maybe a bit the texture too being so soft and crumbly. I am not sure. I am very picky with my seafood but I should try some more.
Oops sorry, I started thinking in Japanese for a moment and my English went very strange above! :-D I hope it made sense still.
The American brand is actually fishier compared to our local brand but less salty which is why i prefer it as a snack. The sardines those koreans are trying are saltier that's why they are eating it with the rice but it has less fishy odor.
I was having an American one in oil. I'm not sure if American sardines in tomato sauce actually has less odor because i haven't tried
Have you tried smelt? That is actually one of my favorites. We call shishamo:
I want to eat now thinking about this. :-D
Nope. Doesn't seem tender to me.
I guess i could try it if i can find
It's actually fairly tender on the body, but crunchy a bit on the head and tail. It's one of my favorite foods to shock and dare my Western friends when they come to Japan since they usually aren't used to eating a fish head to tail.
I actually do eat the fish head because we have our version a small fish kind a like that that we fry and we eat it whole and it's crispy
That sounds very good to me!
Properly grown fresh caught cornish sardines are the best
No, I don't. I much prefer canned tuna.
