Anybody else surprised by how expensive eating out is vs just buying food for groceries?

I noticed the past 2 months I would spend over $400 on food cause I was eating restaurant and fast food. VS groceries food I can spend $40-60 within a week. And this is grocery ready to eat food mostly.

why would i tip for overpriced food? i wouldn't. i'll sneak in my food and beer like at the movies. it's not easy sneaking in a 12 pack but i don't go to the movies either. it's too expensive. i can stream anything at home for a monthly fee from my internet provider. i don't understand where all of this extra money is coming from... biden's inflation? but why are people stupid and not saving?

Yeah I have no idea. A lot of people in this country have money issues.

Well, you're also paying for the time and effort the chef takes to cook it, the wait staff, the "use" of the venue while you're there, the clean-up after you leave, the possible use of the bathrooms, the dish washers, and there's usually a little old lady that comes in over night to run the vacuum and do other cleaning the staff doesn't do. etc..

Yeah that makes sense. I was just surprised that's all. So yeah from now on I've just been buying groceries.

My ex-fiance used to be a waitress and they only make about $3 or $4 an hour and rely heavily on the tips they get! Even after tips, they have to share them with the rest of the wait staff. The good thing was, she was actually making a full 40-hour weeks wages in just 2 or 3 nights! $125 to $175 a night. Maybe $1500 a month for 8 to 12 days of work. But, that was back in the early `90's.

Yeah I get it. Restaurant business tough. People can also be very depending an act like assholes about their food. I have a whole rant about how the gov should just pay them more but I am gonna save you the misery having to read that lol.

Yeah, she told me horror stories about people being assholes towards the wait staff But, most people that went there were quite nice.

Just takes one person though to ruin your day though. I used to be a busboy and got to also see how rude some customers would be.

Yeah, they want the best but they think giving the worst gets them the best!

I don't eat out anymore. I make everything better at home myself, taste way better and is much cheaper. I've been making egg rolls recently so yummy

I would but kinda hard for me with 16 hour shifts 4 days a week. I still will go grocery shopping Saturdays and buy frozen ready foods though and or soup cans to reheat.

Yeah cook during my days off make weeks worth the meals in a couple of days so I can just reheat when im tired and had a long day
