Cooking: Most Commonly-Used Spices and Seasonings for Foods?

Inspired in part by @Aiko_E_Lara. What are you guys' go-to spices that you use most in cooking and for what types of dishes?

I need to diversify my seasonings and spices for my cooking. I tend to just use black pepper, garlic powder if I'm a little bit lazy (as opposed to fresh garlic), onion powder if I'm really lazy (as opposed to fresh onions), cumin, paprika, cayenne, turmeric, and sometimes oregano for Italian and sometimes I'll reach for spice mixes like Garam Masala or 5-spice Chinese mix for certain dishes.

That's about it unless it's a special occasion and I'm making like a butter chicken or something like that.

I should specify savory dishes. If I go sweet (I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I make desserts for my fam) then I reach for more like vanilla and cinnamon. But mostly I want to expand on the savory.

I also have a strong dislike for thyme. I've ruined so many dishes with thyme at least for my palate. Even with what I thought was the smallest amount, it overpowers the dish to my palate and makes it taste like I'm eating grass or something.
