Yes. But you NEED that extra water.
Coffee has caffeine which is a diuretic.
A diuretic causes your body to make more urine so that means that your body needs to consume more water to replace what was used.

Coffee is almost entirely water; it's so close it doesn't (by itself) have any calories. Now, caffeine is a diuretic, so you're not getting ALL of the water you would taking it plain- assuming, that is, that you're short of water. If you're not, you'd pass it out anyway.

Sort of. A cup of black coffee will count as water intake if you also had a cup of water and the ratio is only 1:1. If you had 2 cups of black coffee and only 1 cup of water, the second cup of coffee does not count toward your daily intake. I'm sorry to say that if you add cream or sugar to your coffee, it no longer counts.

@namerofstar that’s exactly what I was thinking 😂 to make coffee I use an entire cup of water so how does 20kcal of milk or 0 kcal of cream change the water?

Oh- that's a different matter, then. Obviously, you'll add calories by adding sweetners (or whatever cream is supposed to be), but that doesn't change that the water is still water. You still get all the benefits it provides.

I find coffee is usually 4 calories or less unless you get instant which might be 10-15 calories per 2 cup serving.
