What wine do you serve with breakfast?

Well in the old days in Australia , long before drinking became frowned upon , I attended a number of champagne breakfasts , these are best know on Melbourne Cup Day ( horse race that stops a nation , for those who think there is only one country - there are more , plenty of them ) , these events are generally chicken / champagne , and at that time of the morning you get intoxicated very quickly , even if a seasoned campaigner like myself ( just typing this my body is cringing with pain - saying " you are not going to start doing that again are you? " - No body , dont worry , I'm not ) , these breakfasts are generally more of a brunch , although I've been to some that started at 7.30 , let me tell you , 7.30 and you need to be standing at race 10 ? Thats tough..
So , with all that I guess I have to vote White? Correct? Because we are no longer allowed to see the Champagne word , big shout out to the French.
Sorry to contradict you, but breakfast is not meant to be taken with wine or beer. Not a good idea. It seems alcohol should not be consumed before midday. This has to do with metabolism of sugars, and be aware that drinking alcohol in the morning leads straight to alcoholism. Mind I love otherwise wine, beer, Whisky, rhum, etc... ;0)
I’ve actually never heard of wine being served with breakfast before. Perhaps on occasion with brunch, & I agree that if you’re going to serve it, chilled white or a dry zinfandel is FOR SURE the best choice. Light & fresh, it pairs well with fruits, eggs, & various breakfast/brunch food items.
If you provided a 4th option for "other" than white wine, red wine or beer, I'd vote for that.
Despite my fondness for wine (particularly red), I don't find wine or beer appropriate to drink with my breakfast food.
I'll settle for a flute of Mimosa instead if a touch of alcohol is a must.

I just hate wine and beer , I'm a scotch man, and an anytime scotch man. But guess what? I hate all Bourbon whiskey, they always say JD and coke ( jack daniels) is the Rock n' Rollers drink, but I think bourbon tastes like puke. Man, I miss English breakfasts, but I miss Tea more, here all biscuits are cookies, and they are pretty sad. But the worst absolutely, is American chocolate, man it leaves a nasty after taste that just does not go.
I'm guaranteed to be plastered and horribly incoherent by midnight, and still going to 4 AM, if I have any alcohol for breakfast. But I'm better with red wine, especially the very rich and bitter ones and at least 12.5% alcohol (25+ proof). I think the sourness of it makes me drink it slower. White wine seems like water to me and so I get totally wasted. I'll drink the entire bottle for breakfast.
If we're talking from some fancy culinary standpoint, also think red pairs better with stuff. Breakfast foods are usually sloppy and greasy and on the fattier side, starting with the yolks of the eggs. I think red pairs better with it as a layman to wine vs. food pairing.
I picked RED wine because it always goes with red meat, and in my case, it goes really well with my RARE prime rib, first thing in the morning, and then follow it up with a second glass, and then it's off to my yoga class, after which I run the stairs at Strand Beach.
Cheers!
Who the hell drinks wine with breakfast? And beer as an option is even weirder lol
Judging on the beans on the breakfast plate, I’m assuming you’re British so maybe wine with breakfast is a British thing?
But in the US, I’ve never heard of anyone drinking wine with their breakfast. If we do drink in the morning, we do Mimosas. Or Bloody Mary’s are considered a morning drink too but I don’t personally like them
If anyone feels like having wine for breakfast, they could get a glass of water instead, and as you drink it, imagine it's the miraculous taste of my lips. Then watch this calming video about how important you are to me as a sober and healthy member of the body of bean2k21
No Wine, A strong brewed Black Breakfast Tea, an Earl Grey or a decent Coffee if that's your want.
And that 'Breakfast' is short a few Items, like More bacon, eggs, and sausages, and butter for the toast, the 'hash brown' you can sling in the bin it has no place being there.
It really depends on what kind of breakfast I am having. I said red and I would had a red wine if I was having a big hearty breakfast like bacon and eggs with grits and biscuits. But is I am having a lite breakfast like avocado slices on toast then it is a white wine for sure... Sometimes I just wait and have a small glass of brandy after the meal...
if anything... a dark beer could go well to cook breakfast...
https://www.youtube.com/embed/086AHy1xEUgA nice fruity white like Moscato or Riesling. Or, better yet, Prosecco. Mimosas for the kids. 😂
Actually, I don't drink in the morning. I don't really drink much at all, but I do on occasion.
I have never had wine with breakfast but I have heard of people putting vodka in their breakfast cereal.
White wine to avoid the red wine headache. Nobody wants a pounding head as they swerve and drift into work each morning.
You forgot mead. For those who prefer to eat their breakfast in Valhalla
Port with fruit juice is really the only alcohol appropriate at breakfast
I prefer liquorball sandwiches
(Only legends will get that reference)
Ripasso valpolicella 7n the morning 🌅 👌👌👌
Champagne, of course. So, based on colour, I selected "white".
Definitely white, a sweet German Liebfraumilch is perfect with breakfast.
So glad you added beer as an option, cause that was my first thought. We actually have a beer-based breakfast porridge in my country called øllebrød.
