How do you choose your wine for the dinner?

Do you guys choose wine based on the cheese type or order the food based on the wine selection. I'm just looking for which wine is best paired with which cheese. Let me know your views.

I just go by the flavours I like the most, and mostly everyone in my family has the same preference which is that we like sweet wines and do not like bitter ones. We drink wine the same way you would select a carton of juice at the grocery store - you want sweet and flavourful.

I used to prefer red wines cause there was a rumour the grape skin was good for your body but now scientists are saying that 100% of alcohol is bad for you, so now I drink both red and white, but less often then in the past. I have reduced my alcohol consumption by 40% and it was already very low before these scientists said alcohol was bad for you, just because Dr. Berg says alcohol interferes with fat burning, and another doctor said that alcohol can only be processed by your liver at a rate of one ounce per hour, so if you over drink, your liver will be too busy to burn fat.

If I'm in a restaurant I'll get a recommendation from the waiter. Generally, heavier red wines are for meat-based meals, white wines are for fish-based meals.

Red/white is based on what type of protein you’re having. From there I don’t care for sweet wines so I ask for something dry with a bit of body. (Dry for the taste buds, body so I’ll just sip the one glass throughout the meal.) Lighter wines (less body) are good for a cheese-and-cracker sort of thing.
