For people who celebrate Thanksgiving, how do you cook your turkey?

It's baked and by noon I'm usually baked. It's the only way I can tolerate it! I hate turkey but it doesn't matter to anyone in my family. I ask for ham and my wife says, "shut the fuck up, Wally! We're having turkey! What are you doing here anyway"? Then my five yr old will say, "you want this mommy"? As she throws my wife a butcher's knife. Yeah, happy Thanksgiving!
Poor Wally. I'll save some turkey sandwiches for you.
Is this your idea of a sick, twisted joke? Are you going out of your way to hurt me, Mandy? I just wrote that I DON'T LIKE TURKEY! I know your heart is in the right place and I adore you for that but I'm going to pretend today never happened.
Open wide here comes the turkey airplane
The bird goes in the smoker early in the morning, usually takes 10 to 12 hours if I recall. I'll find out in a few days :-).
The butcher shop we got our turkey from has some really great rubs, and also a variety of Smokin Woods, so you can really add the flavors you would like.
Sounds amazing
I'm sure you know some folks where you're at you know how to do a turkey up right in the smoker :-). I'm originally from Missouri, so I have a bit of pride in the game when it comes to smoking and grilling.
Yeah it's a big deal around here, smoking and barbeque in general.
Iām baking it and I basically use spices similar to what you would use for pumpkin pie. You should also think about blocking Wally! 😝😝
Wally is ok. He's just got a hard life and no respect.

Woah there.. I haven't been on here in a hot hot minute. Who is pretending to be me.. orrrr is there another Wally.. hmmm the suspense. Yeah I'm curious.. me?
Ohhh. Another Wally. Woah there.. wtf. This message is only on here because I can't delete the last message.

as we usually go to my aunt's place... I don't have to do any of the cooking and I'm just eating...
and they do like to switch it up from time to time... and as of late... they're going deep fried, which is a very Texas thing to do, lmfao...
Deep fried is soooooo good
it really is... that and mashed potatoes, I need no more, lol
We don't do mashed potatoes at my family's Thanksgiving.
mashed potatoes has been my request at every holiday in the family since I was a toddler lmfao... now it's just a thing, how nice...
which side dishes do you go with? by the way...
We do antipasti first. the bird, Italian sausage grilled, normally we will have Italian green bean casserole, baked ziti, stuffing. Then the desserts.
Oh and baked macaroni but not like velveeta but Italian style so marinara and mozzarella and Parmesan
oh... I'll have to convince my family to try this next year...
It's just how my dad's side of the family has always done the Italian version lol.
right, lol... and I do like that idea
we do similar on most holidays... the Mexican cuisine, part of the family usually takes over, haha
I'd love the mexican Thanksgiving
can be really good... and even better, Mexican Christmas
bigger family gatherings means a whole lot more of varied great food
The food would be amazing
maybe one day!
I think we just leave it plain and people choose what to add to it
That's one way to do it. That way everyone can be happy.
Yep, that's a restaurant tactic if I'm not mistaken
Subway style
Sure lol
I have baked, grilled and deep fried it. Have not smoked it.
My most favorite is "deep fried". It is a lot of work but worth it!
It's sooo good
I use apricot, cherry or mesquite woods to smoke. Which give a great flavor.
Sounds great
My mom is excellent at cooking turkey. she normally just puts it in the oven
Do you do stuffing? my mom puts it inside the turkey like this.
Yeah we do stuffing. We just do a lot of Italian based meals as well.
of course lol. mamma mia!
Marinated in a bucket for 3 days and then baked :D
We don't do Thanksgiving here in the UK but I'm interested in seeing the replies
Do you wish you celebrated it? Is there a British version where the entire holiday is about food?
Not really years ago we had Harvest Festival around the end of summer but that tradition has unfortunately fallen by the wayside
Y'all need a food based holiday. Once a year just pig out.
Yeah you guys should have a 'fish and chips' day cause thats your guys' best meal lol
@Still-alive now there's a thought I haven't had those for a while so that's dinner sorted lol
I like it stuffed with breadcrumbs, egg, sausage meat and spices.
My dad has been smoking a turkey every year since 2010.
We are Smoking ours this year. Not sure what wood my dad will use. He usually not that picky
Over the last few years I have smoked about half of them and roasted the rest in the oven.
We bake it in the convection oven. It's seasoned with butter, Mrs dash, garlic salt, onion powder and parsley.
You gonna have leftovers for when I come over?
We got a 21lb and a 19lb bird. There will be plenty of leftovers, trust me
What other leftovers you got for me š
Stuffing, creamed onions, green bean casserole, candied yams, boiled red potatoes,
My wife thinks she's feeding an army
Well your stuffing sounds like I'd really enjoy.
I stuff really good
𫦠I'm gonna need to find out how good your Thanksgiving stuffing is. I pretty much already know ahead of time that I'd be full after.
Oh, Thanksgiving stuffing? I was thinking about another stuffing š¤ š
It's a stuffing on Thanksgiving day... Or night. Depends on when you are gonna serve it.
How about all day and night
You've inspired me
I guess I have. Lol
Just raw probably haha
Raw turkey? Wouldn't recommend that.
Dont cook me lol
