How heavy is a size 3 egg in the usa?

Quick question, how heavy is a size 3 egg in America? I need to convert a recipe to British measurements and google isn't helping.

The American book says 3 size 3 eggs. I'm so disappointed in you people and guessed 4 medium uk eggs. It seems to have worked.

We do not have eggs sized like that. I have no idea what a size 3 egg is.

They are medium, large, extra large and jumbo. Large is the most common. There is not a big difference between them. If the recipe calls for three eggs, just use three eggs of whatever size you have. Unless they are super big or small you should be OK.

If you want to get picky:

Small = 1.5 ounce = 42 grams
Medium = 1.7 ounce = 48 grams
Large = 2 ounce = 56 grams
Extra large = 2.2 ounce = 62 grams

I have never heard of a size 3 egg. We have medium, large and extra large eggs. A large egg weighs approximately 62 grams.
But it’s my cooking experience there isn’t enough differences in eggs to hurt the recipe. Have at it with whatever you have I’m sure it’ll be fine.

I do not know egg sizes but I would say the largest egg size is probably the same as a normal traditional farm egg that comes out through natural birth conditions in Europe. The super small eggs are what we typically find in our Canadian markets.

size 3 was an outdated way to say 60 grams, therefore in u. s. match large is around 2 ounces around 60 grams.

@purplepoppy I'm sorry you're disappointed but we Amerucans don't size eggs by numbers. Eggs are considered small, medium, large and extra-large.

When a recipe calls for eggs over here, it usually doesn't specify what size. If it says 4 eggs we just use 4 eggs. Like others said, we don't size eggs by number. Most eggs at the grocery store are medium large xl and jumbo, Columbo.
