What’s on your pancakes?

Plain. I’m dull.

Butter and maple syrup. Obviously the best answer.

Some sort of fruit syrup. Also acceptable.

Chocolate syrup. I’m a kid.

Some other kind of crappy syrup. I don’t love myself.

Something else. This oughta be good.

It must be a fresh lemon, cut it in half, then squeeze the lemon juice onto a lovely warm pancake, and then sprinkle sugar over it... Roll it up, eat and enjoy.

I put stuff in pancake dough not on them. Usually sour apple pieces, blueberries or raspberries.

Otherwise savoury with salami and gouda.

I just eat pancakes with whatever’s syrups there. (Not real maple syrup.) But I stay away from any of that sugar free ones, I can taste the chemicals and it’s too runny. I don’t mind if there’s berries or whipped cream. But I like it with syrup more. My sister just likes them plain. Everyone else in my family adds butter and I’ve seen some eat bacon with theirs.

I've tried every syrup I've seen in stores, and nothing has ever topped that one. If I run out, then maple syrup is the runner up. Butter goes on with both.

Occasionally, we do pecan syrup or fruit syrups just to mix things up. Usually on those days I also mix nuts or something into the batter. I've also done plain when I'm not in a mood for sugar. The butter I cook them in is enough flavor on its own.

Growing up I would have crushed strawberries and sugar. Delicious. Although obviously that doesn't work if it's not the season, the strawberries are all watery.

The Quebecois call imitation maple syrup "Pole syrup" because it tastes like it came from a telephone pole.

- peanut 'butter'

- a mix of cinnamon and sugar

- whipped cream
