I put stuff in pancake dough not on them. Usually sour apple pieces, blueberries or raspberries.
if i want them sweet, apple slices and powdered sugar.
Otherwise savoury with salami and gouda.
I usually have butter & maple syrup. But if I can have other things it'd be fruity syrup, fruit, cream cheese, or PB&J.
I just eat pancakes with whatever’s syrups there. (Not real maple syrup.) But I stay away from any of that sugar free ones, I can taste the chemicals and it’s too runny. I don’t mind if there’s berries or whipped cream. But I like it with syrup more. My sister just likes them plain. Everyone else in my family adds butter and I’ve seen some eat bacon with theirs.
No one mentioned Aunt Jemima syrup even once? Now, that's a shame!
I've tried every syrup I've seen in stores, and nothing has ever topped that one. If I run out, then maple syrup is the runner up. Butter goes on with both.
Occasionally, we do pecan syrup or fruit syrups just to mix things up. Usually on those days I also mix nuts or something into the batter. I've also done plain when I'm not in a mood for sugar. The butter I cook them in is enough flavor on its own.
Growing up I would have crushed strawberries and sugar. Delicious. Although obviously that doesn't work if it's not the season, the strawberries are all watery.
Real maple syrup or I'm not eating them. I prefer waffles.
The Quebecois call imitation maple syrup "Pole syrup" because it tastes like it came from a telephone pole.
I live in New England. I don't want the Sugar Bush association to revoke my membership status.

I prepare like this:
- self made mulberry marmalade
- self made starfruit marmalade
- peanut 'butter'
- a mix of cinnamon and sugar
- whipped cream
In Germany it's traditionally liverwurst/meat spread. For kids it could be marmalade.

Pancakes are awesome with bacon eggs and maple syrup

Either honey with cinnamon or chocolate spread.
