What's the point of margarine?

Butter isn't expensive, a good brand in the UK will only set you back £2 to £3 at most and will last a while. Marg may be cheaper, but butter is hardly breaking the bank and is better for cooking with, no one fries eggs in marg. Plus those little butters you get in cafés are ideal to slip in your handbag for those adhoc round the back intimate moments.

Marge may spread easier but other than that, what's the point?
