These are the ones. I learned how to use the same trick as for funneled bagels (scoop out a little of the inside so it gets a little extra toasty and allows the chef to add more of the lobster filling). Best summer trick I learned as a kid.

But do they? While some do indeed come in 10s, eight seems a lot more average. In fact a quick google finds them in 4s, 6s, 12s, even 30 as well but 8 does seem to be the norm.

It's getting one that fits your bun thats the issue, some look lost, others stick too far out or even cause your bun to split

They do it in on purpose to motivate you to buy more hot dogs and buns. Some super stingy people might buy more hot dogs or more buns cause they don't believe in wasting food, so they will buy 5 or 6 times more then they want to make sure every bun they have is matched with a hot dog.
