Anonymous(30-35)1 yI've enjoyed cooking since I was pretty young. Learned from my dad. I'm told I'm a great cook. I think I'm pretty good, but definitely have room for improvement. I do a lot of French and Italian style cooking. I make a killer marinara sauce (I can't boast too much about it since it's a very traditional, tried and true Italian recipe), and really good meatballs to go with it. I also make a pretty good vodka sauce. I like to do braises with beef short ribs, lamb shanks or oxtails (they're better than they sound). I make some killer French style sauces for beef, fish and chicken too.
Because I'm a guy, I also love to grill and smoke meats. I have fine tuned my steak skills over the years and am pretty happy with the results. My briskets and ribs are pretty good. Chicken, too, although the crispy skin has been a little elusive.
I have for years done a prim rib roast for Christmas Eve, which always turns out good. The one thing that eludes me is a good Yorkshire pudding. I have tried everything and just can't get them to rise very high, which is important for a good pudding. I'm convinced it's because I live at a high elevation.
For New Years Eve I do crab legs, which are super easy. But my favorite part is using the leftover shells to make a stock, and then using it, with leftover crab meat, to make a crab bisque. One of my favorite meals.

1 yI cook anything. I think my family's favorite is my meatloaf and potatoes or my spinach chicken Alfredo. I prefer easy things like that to make and I'm not a fan of recipes that require 30 steps or more just to get to the end product and time is a concern as well unless it's something I can put in the crockpot and not have to stand there stirring it for an hour... corned beef stew for instance. I have a wood pellet grill that's about as big as a oven and a couple of propane grills... that's where I'll do Turkey or whatever and smoke the meat hardcore. I also make my own jerky and I'm pretty much a butcher as well. I can make my own hamburger and steak cuts and trust me it's way cheaper to buy a fucking entire cow and chop it all up yourself.

I can cook. I’m not a chef and I wouldn’t win any awards on Hell’s Kitchen or top chef. But no one’s died or gotten food poisoning yet so I’d say I’m doing pretty good lol. Best dishes I suppose would be this pork chop dish I make with mushrooms, garlic, bacon and heavy cream served over rice or a rice substitute. Specific cut of chop though. And the other that I’m good at is Tuscan chicken to the point I have clients request it in their meal preps lol.

1 yI love to cook and I love having lots of people around the table together. My specialties are things like, Chile con carne, stews, and soups. I make about 20 different kinds of soup. And then ofc the biscuits or bread to go with it. And salads, so many different kinds of salads and dressings. And my husband does any kind of bbq. Love bbq. What don't I do well? Most kinds of sauces. Not great with gravy and sauces.

Cooking is like painting; each dish tells a unique story. My forte lies in crafting a soulful Italian risotto with its creamy texture, and I have a knack for preparing delicate Japanese sushi with precision. However, puff pastry is a tricky endeavor for me, especially when it comes to achieving the perfect flaky layers. Each attempt is a delicious learning experience! 🍣🍅

1 yI love to cook, be doing it my whole life, I'm male and I cook all the meals for my wife and myself. We're both retired but I've always done most of the cooking of our 50+ years together. I do all kinds of pasta, BBQ, grilling on my several different style grills. I also do pies, cakes, and cookies. I do every meal and wife loves my breakfast dishes, especially my scrambled omelet or my quiche with everything but the kitchen sink. I'm always inventing new dishes from leftovers to keep it interesting and not wasting food.

If you went to the store and got me 20 things I don't care what they are I would make something good from it that you would absolutely like

u 1 yYes! I am a great cook!
I make great breakfast sandwiches. In the morning, I'll also be taking another stab at eggs benedict.
I've made pizza from scratch before and that's typically gotten good feedback. I should make burgers from scratch again sometime.
I also make amazing chocolate chip cookies.

1 yYes. Almost any stir-fry- Mexican, Asian, etc. Almost any pasta dish. Scratch Alfredo and tomato sauces. Scratch biscuits with sausage gravy. I now make our own slaws, potato salad, dill pickles, soups (start with a decent basic roux), pork sausage, and beef patties (I add a bit of TVP for protein and it allows for a longer cooking time, and a more gentle sear and cook through) . I work with whatever I have on hand and can usually come up with something.

I think my best is Cumberland Tattie Pot made with Mutton or Wether, with picked Red Cabbage to go with it, and proper sticky Gingerbread to follow,

Anonymous(25-29)1 yI'll admit I'm a terrible cook. I just never had any interest in cooking until recently. Now I wish I had taken it more seriously before. My mom is also a terrible cook so I didn't really get to learn anything from her. I am trying to learn to be a better cook, partly because I want to be able to cook good food for my future partner and children, and i also want to be able to teach my daughters cooking skills (if I ever have any daughters).

@NathanDavis You can make mole sauce? Do you use cacao in yours?
- 1 y
@Caroline91 sometimes, I use it... but most of the time I go without, depends on the occasion really
as for cacao, yes... if I get a hold of it, I prefer to use cacao than chocolate... but sometimes I do use this chocolate with coffee beans that I do get from the very far South, sometimes...
but only a little because as they say... a true, authentic mole should not taste like any of the ingredients, it should taste as mole sauce... lol - 1 y
@NathanDavis Absolutely it should and there is nothing else on earth quite like it. 😋
- 1 y
@Caroline91 now I want some... it should be forbidden to talk about after midnight on here... lmao
