Have you ever complained about a service or food before or had to deal with a bad customer complaint?

Question

A friend of mine had to deal with an insane customer yesterday complaining about the food choices and quality of them at her workplace. She was yelling at my friend wanting a refund for the items she bought and ate all of. 💀

I never really complain unless its not what I ordered or something is very wrong with it.

The worst one was when I was working at a bar. I was a bouncer and I think at that point I was the manager as well. Can’t remember, but at very least I was bouncing. Guess it doesn’t matter, I’m just trying to remember which role I was getting yelled at in😝

In any case, it must’ve been the 2008 election season, and there was supposed to be a debate on TV. It was also playoff season in baseball, and our local team was playing that night.

During the week there was kind of a grad student-ish crowd that would come, then it was more standard college kids on the weekends. This was a Thursday night, so college kids were going to be coming, but not til maybe after 9.

Anyway, this woman who must have been in her 50s was asking us to put the debate on the TVs and turn the jukebox off. I think we would put The State Of The Union address on, because that was like Monday or Tuesday…. but this is a money-making night, and college kids are gonna roll up mid-debate like “where’s the music and why aren’t the Red Sox on? And why are we watching a debate?”

So I had to explain this to her, and she just LOST IT. Started screaming and cussing at me, and said I was contributing to the ignorance of the youth and how baseball doesn’t matter, lmfao. I just let her rant, suggested maybe that’s the kind of thing to watch at home, she cussed at me more, and then told she’d have to leave, and she’s like “FUCK YOU, I’M NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN!!!” She was hysterical, lmao.

So we had a downstairs bar, more low key, older crowd, was more of a restaurant WITH a bar area, vs a full-on bar/lounge upstairs. I passed through there just making my rounds a little later, and she’s sitting there with a martini watching the debate, in a much more appropriate area to do so. I could’ve thrown her out, but I couldn’t be fucked to do it. Never saw her before or again, so whatever😂

1) I avoid going to Places that would be too expensive for me.

2) I Order stuff, that I know comes good in the places I go..

3) I don't order a meal that much , if it comes Bad, I would feel Robbed for paying for that.

4) If something comes really Bad, I can see and smell and Tell them, come smell and see this, is this good to be served. Following that, have some shame, take this back and bring me new. But this usually doesn't happens since I don't go to random places..

- Over going out to eat, I would rather bring Raw materials and cook them any dish I like in my Kitchen Following the recipe. I hate eating outside, considering God knows what they put in my meal, they could have Spit in my food or Pissed in my Drink. Home cooking is Best Cooking!..

I never complained to staff over something.
But I had to deal with people yelling at me every once in awhile when I used to be a cashier at the dollar store. Most the time I would just end up ignoring them and moving on to the next person, one because if I got fired or in trouble I didn't really care and second I don't deal with assholes yelling at me over something I didn't even do.

I have to deal with upset customers every day. Most of their issues are completely out of my control... but its surprising how effective just listening and showing some empathy can be. 90% of the time that works. For the other 10% I just develop a thick skin for.

there's been a couple of times in which they forgot something, or mixed up stuff... I told them about it, and they were like "oh, okay" quick fix... no drama

and times in which I decided to eat the wrong order lmao... because it did look good, so... why not, right?

Bad customer complaints all the time when I was younger. Customers are the biggest butt heads ever lol.

Regarding food complaints I don't complain. If something is only really off I'll let them know nicely but without it sounding rude. For ex if I ask for medium rare and it's a little over or I just eat it.

Only way I send food back is for an allergy request they forgot to remove really. I rarely have food issues so bad that it must go back lol. I have friends that are so rude to waiters or waitresses I won't go out to eat with them anymore.

I suggest you stop being friends with this person. Someone who lacks self control like that and causes dramatic scenes in public can get you into dangerous situations when they start trouble with the wrong person. All it takes is starting an argument with someone who has nothing to lose and thinks nothing of using violence to make a point. They exist.

Only times i really complained was if the food was taking wayyy longer than expected and the place isn't all that busy. I don't recall ever doing it because the food was bad or anything. i usually don't complain much, i just simply don't go there again... at least for awhile

Just twice. Once when they brought me a burger and forgot to put the burger in it. The second time was when I was served raw chicken, it was actually still frozen and red inside.

I rarely complain about food when we eat out. However the chef prepares it, I eat it.

My wife, on the other hand, is extremely picky about her food. If it doesn't come out the way she wants it (say, she orders medium rare meat and it comes out medium well), she sends it back.

The only time I've ever complained about food and sent it back at a restaurant is when it came out stone cold. That's happened maybe twice in my life.

I hate ketchup and when I order a burger I always insist no mustard, no ketchup no mayo, no Nothing. Just meat in a bun. Sometimes they screw it up and it has that shit all over it. I send it back and they just scrape that crap off and bring it back. I tell them that I could have scraped the crap off myself I want a new burger.

I don't complain cause people spit on the food, people can basically do what they want with your food when they are angry at you, they have that control and it's smart not to piss them off, they can do the whole snot spit on your burger and you'll think it's a new sauce 😂

I spent a few years in hospitality as a side job or as a resort employee. The strangest thing anybody ever complained about in anger was that the curtains on a houseboat rental didn't match her bedding she brought. Im a very chill person especially as a guest. I tip well also if the service is up to par and i am pretty educated in propper service.

Yes. Restaurant tried to kill my gluten free wife on Mother's Day. I'll admit I was UGLY that day but I was beyond pissed after we asked the waiter AND he said he asked the chef about cross contamination concerns. I think if it wasn't their fault they would have called the cops on me tbh. I was a fucking lunatic. My BIL too. We were just enraged over their casualness about attempted manslaughter.

No thank god i just keep it to myself, last time i went out for dinner a couple of waitress would laugh right as they walked past me at my table. Of course my mom was with says she didn't hear or see anything, but they were probably making jokes in the kitchen

I’ve complained about food a few times. Due to it not being cooked like I asked (eg asked for medium rare steak and was given well done steak), or missing an ingredient that I paid for as an extra to the dish. Simple mistakes and easy to correct.

Sometimes it's necessary to complain, unfortunately. In a restaurant I once ordered a steak rare medium, but it was well done. The waiter was sorry and I got a new, perfect, steak.
