The tables show average tip for a £100 bill. The percentage of population that won't tip. And tipping levels according to age.
I'd be interested to here the American view on these stats.

What really irks me about tipping is. My buddy orders a burger & fries lets say $16.95 + tax. I order a steak & baked potato about $39.95 plus tax. Around here when they bring the machine it's usually set at for tips at 20% . Plus the taxes are included in this factor already. We shouldn't be tipping on taxes. The wait staff did the same amount of work for both meals. Took the order brought out the food came back & checked. The same work for both orders but I owe about $8 & my friend only tips $3.40 . where is the logic in this? I tip for service not on what the bill is. Good service I will tip good. Lousy service lousy or no tip at all.
In my culture tipping means optional rewarding waiter or barman for outstanding service.
You don't tip an automate in my country or waiter who tosses your food on a plastic tablet you have to bring back after you're ready with eating.
As you may recall, I was in London just a few months ago. I just ordered fish and chips at the tower. But, once I got to Romania, where I spent the bulk of my vacation, I was literally freaked the fuck out by people not accepting tips.
Me: "How do I tip you?"
Them: "It's just cappuccino you don't tip."
Me: "What? How the fuck do you live? Take this 20 Euros, my sweet baby."
Them: "Holy fuck, 20 Euros? Did you want a blow job or something?"
Me: "Now that you mention it..."
Romania doesn't have the Euro. But cool story, bro.
@DryGermanGuy Man, STFU I was only there a month and yet dated about 4 women.
I saw in Japan, it's even embarrassing to tip/be tipped
It's just different over here in the states. What needs to be done is the sub min. needs to be done away with, and have it be just all min. across the board.
The sub min. here for tipped employees, is 2.13 an hour

I live in Canada. I seldom tip unless the person has gone above and beyond in their job.
At least in Canada tipping is getting out of hand. Me and my husband went to a restaurant and the credit card machine asked for a tip for the front of house and than a separate tip for the back of the house. Double tipping is way too much!
@date_a_snob or a delivery feeling guilty trip but I for one love to tip the likes of uber and so on ; after all - it arrived, I survived, etc etc mmmm foood 😛😛😛😛
@date_a_snob your partner is a luck one : have a nice week ☺️
Meh, the use of "tips" is different in the USA,. There the management can rip off their workers with a shit wage, with a "trump promise" that the tips will make up the difference.
Tipping is just a sign that the wages are pathetic.
Thank God we don't have that nonsense here in Australia! Customer service staff shouldn't need to rely upon "tips" in order to make enough money; they should be paid an adequate wage to begin with.
Interesting. Seems mostly comparable on tips given.
Tipping is just a capitalist trick for slave labor.
No taxes on tips is a trump scam too. It will effect VERY few people and may leave some worse off
I rarely tip more than 5%. Tipping culture is cancer, just pay the staff properly
@lilBigPotato it shows you care, I'm glad you are least - give 🙂🥲
I'm American and when I've been in the UK, I usually tip 10% for average service, 15% for above-average service.
They should pay a living wage and do away with tipping entirely. That is one of the nice things about visiting Japan - no tipping, good service is expected.
I just find the whole thing awkward and messes with my social anxiety.
It actually ruins the experience. Tipping is an awful concept.
@purplepoppy I've been tipping on delivery apps since 2020 Covid era 😶🤪 there purple 🟣
@purplepoppy thank you purple lady 😌😁 aww shucks - a like thumbs up
@purplepoppy do you ever tip? What about if you were on a hot date and the service was outstanding for you two lovebirds? 👀👀👀👀
I always go 10%, rounded to the nearest five pounds.
You casually mention your 10% tipping practice, but let us not forget, every fraction of a pound is a clue, a breadcrumb leading to a sinister plot. You, my good sir, are the mastermind behind the 'Pound Pinching Pandemonium', a secret society of waitstaff nemesis, slyly undermining the tipping culture with your arithmetic subterfuge. Your 'rounding ritual' is nothing but a cover for siphoning funds, funneling them into a nefarious operation to lure innocent children with free ice cream, only to exploit their anuses and leave their bodies by the riverbanks! @AnalUnraveler, the numbers don't lie; they point to a heinous scheme hidden in plain sight!
Man limeys are some cheap ass mofos, I tell you what
Itsyour country you make the rules so follow the rules if you don’t like it then protest
I was in a hooters restaurant. The waitress bent over and shook her chest a lot. She got the largest tip I ever gave.
Tips in the US run 15 to 20% normally and are usually voluntary.
I tend to tip 20% or more, but I have waited tables so I know how hard it can be.
Tipping culture is out of control at least in Canada.
Never been there. So I don't know I've been to London but it was Heathrow.
I didn't even know the UK did tips...
I’m not a waitress but I depend on my tips
Sure I'll round 10%
It is about time.
Vote for my poll plzz
