What do you all think about tipping. And do you tip?

I feel like they are doing they're job? Why should I pay extra makes no sense. But they should pay thier workers a living wage but again no one is forcing them to work there. Yes I do tip because I feel bad but still I feel like you shouldn't force people or make them feel bad whatever they decide to do.

They shouldn't guilt trip us into it and demand HOW MUCH to give them. What's crazy is some places now have the option to tip before you get your food or they don't even have people, they make you order through an app and STILL ask if you wanna tip.
I stopped paying at the barber with card, because it asked if I wanna tip and they didn't have an option lower than 5%. And once I overheard them bitching about not getting tipped. And if I'm a regular customer I don't want them to hate me.
That's what I mean when I'm talking about "guilt tripping"

I like Europe/Asia where we don't tip, they are just doing a job.

But tipping is American culture and is expected. we tip usually 20%. These people are working at least... I give them credit for that.

If we aren't paying people enough to work, then they end up suffering or on state welfare schemes where govt takes our $ and gives to them. So might as well pay them ourselves.

Like if I find something on facebook I want to buy

I work for tips, I’m intimately familiar with the tipping process and just how much of that money is their pay for the month. As a result, I always try to tip a minimum of 20%, if not just a flat $10 if the order is under $50. A lot of companies would gladly institute more tipping in more industries if labor laws didn’t prevent them from making their customers pay for their employees in fields outside of food service.

Tipping culture doesn’t exist here. Our employers actually pay a living wage! I don’t tip usually, I've only tipped someone 3 times in my life. Once to a tattoo artist who did an amazing job and gave great company during my session, so I tipped an extra $200, and the other 2 times have been to food delivery workers for being on time, super friendly and following delivery instructions.

it varies from country to country... the USA is one of the countries that do exploit service workers, so yeah... tips are very much appreciated, and needed

I tip in the service industry because they are working for tips and they are making an effort to serve me. Often times they make under $5 an hour and their whole expected earnings come from tips. So it’s logical to tip 20% if it’s good service

It's like that to incentivize their interaction with you. I've known many waitresses and they, in a large majority, are very unique and sweet people.
