The two-faced approach quite a large number of women have when it comes to makeup and men

I hear all the time now about women put up make up on for themselves and that guys shouldn't have an opinion about it. Then they completely turn around and complain about how much hard work it is to put make up on all the time. When asked why they do it if they hate the hassle they say it's because of men. Well which is it? Do you do it for yourself or for men because you've given both answers now and somehow it's mens fault for not understand what you're saying? (Which by the way you're saying two completely opposite things). Let's just take gender out of the equation for a moment. Would anyone not be confused by these actions if they were looking at the situation from an outside perspective? If you want men to respect you then drop this stupid two-faced approach you have about makeup. Men will not see you as their equal if you just blame anything and everything on them.

I don't have too much experience with the makeup matter, but I am familiar with the blame guy. Apparently, I have great power. According to my ex-wife, when I did something wrong, it was my fault, of course. When she did something wrong, she was only responding to something that I had done so, ultimately, that was my fault, too. The conclusion, of course, was that whatever problems we had in our marriage, it was my responsibility to fix them.

I referred to her as my ex, so you already know how that worked out.

Good for you for ending that crap. Any marriage that's one sided per the blame is not a healthy one at that. A marriage shouldn't be about blame, but about co-operation, understanding, faithfulness, trust, loyalty, commitment, and honesty. Pettiness, selfishness, adultery, un-needed anger, and hate should be left out on the street to rot.

Any time blame becomes an issue in a marriage, you know that you already took a wrong turn and got on the street that only runs downhill. Marriage should be about solving problems and finding happier days, not putting your spouse in the hot seat.

Some actually say both of these depending on the day and what they're arguing about. Yes not everyone does both but guys are getting chewed out if they don't guess correctly which opinion the girl has about makeup which needs to stop. Girls ask why we assume we think girls put on makeup for men or ask why we're so oblivious to their hard work and the answer to both is women because both of those are being screamed at men.

I think guys and girls just notice different forms of hypocricy more because it might affect them more than the other. Lots of guys don't notice things that are unfair against women because they don't experience and vice versa with this being an example. Its why places like this exist. We let each other know that these things are happening that the other gender doesn't really notice themselves in their life so it can end.

Ok, well personally I don't think this is a massive issue. I mean really? women really complain when you don't mention they are wearing make up? Most women don't want their make up to be mentioned.

I've only been harassed personally over it twice but I see it happen a number of times to my various male friends.

No it usually starts with discussions about the hardships one gender has to deal with on a daily basis that the other doesn't and the girl brings up makeup and how much of a chore it is that guys should appreciate not having to do.

If I gave that impression I'm sorry. I just mostly wrote this take because I saw several questions and take recently of some women telling men to not think their makeup has anything to do with guys. (And the way those people talked about it was them having a go at men) and my take was mostly for people like them to explain that it's really confusing for dudes and to just not attack them if they aren't immediately on the same page as women about the subject.

I can answer this question quite easily: we're not doing it for the men who make comments to us, we're doing it for the man in our head... AKA, ourselves in a male perception.

When we spend all of this time beautifying ourselves, we aren't doing it for the guy who wants to make shitty or perverse remarks, because he isn't the kind of guy we would ever dress up for. No, we're doing it for this hypothetical man in our head that appreciates our highlights, our masterfully lined and filled lips, and is breath-taken by are perfected beachy waves. This man of course doesn't exist in our day to day lives, he's really just our subconscious telling us what we find attractive in ourselves and what we would want our hypothetical man to be attracted to.

Pssh haha, the ones who think makeup is a hassle are the ones who wear too much. Concealer and mascara is hardly a hassle to put on, it takes 5 minutes max. And even if you add like eyebrow stuff and eyeshadow, it should only take about 20 minutes if you want to be super precise.

I agree with what other people are saying though, it seems like you're talking about two different kinds of women. Those who enjoy putting makeup on because they personally think it's nice, and those who treat it as a chore because they just want to impress men. That's why you can't really ask which one it is, since both are valid. They just apply to different kinds of women. Or hypocrites.

Because you men can't tell the difference half the time between what's real and what's fake!
Women are competitive. We hate it when we see a natural beauty overlooked by people because she's outshined by some silicone filled, fake tan coated bimbo under 6 inches of foundation and contouring techniques. So we follow persuit because we KNOW we can look better than that if we did whatever she did to herself, too.
Yes, it's a hassle. We hate having to spend more than 20 minutes on our make up, and when I leave my house make up free it feels amazing. I love the gym because I can sweat and rub my face and splash myself with water without a care. But all that hassle is worth it.

I do it because I don't have a pretty face. If I don't wear makeup or dress decently, people automatically say I don't make an effort in my appearance. I do it for anyone who has criticized me about my looks. In all honesty, other women have called me ugly more than men have.

Different women have different reasons behind what they do. There are some women who obviously wear makeup because they want to impress men, but there are also women like me who mostly wear makeup to look more put-together and professional at work or during presentations at school. Plus, for some women, makeup is an art form. Some ladies just love playing with makeup and seeing what image they can create upon themselves!

All little girls get into makeup. They see their mothers doing it, and they sneak in and ruin themselves with makeup because its fun.
